Anyone do the Eselfontein Enduro last weekend?

If you did, how about a race report. By the look of it, it featured 5 stages and some very rough natural terrain. Having ridden a bit at Eselfontein in the past I am quite sure you could create some proper tech enduro stages there...

Just to let some people know that are too scared to do the Eselfontein MTB race because they think its too technical, that this track in the movie is the motor bike Enduro track not the mountain bike track.  Big up to you guys its difficult enough on a motor bike.

This came across my feed..

I saw that same video. I'm not convinced on the level of fun involved in homogenizing your internal organs by riding over those rocks at speed. I would do it, but only as a test of my abilities and so that once the nuclear apocalypse comes I can know that I will survive that too. I may be exaggerating slightly, but it does look really tough.

And you are a rock guy - that says a lot!

Tracks look awesome, Deon. Just goes to show what can be ridden on a suitable MTB. Looking forward to riding this one next year with a properly healed knee.

Yeah, I don't know if "fun" is the word I'd use to describe that bit (and pretty much the whole of) SS4. It was pretty much as brutal as one could possibly ride. I went down hard at the end of SS2 and halfway through SS4 (just after the video ends), one of our trio slashed a tyre so we all decided to rather have some biltong and snacks and watch people come past!

It's difficult to describe just how insanely rocky that trail is.

That being said, I think we were all surprised at what ended up being rideable. Looking at sections of it while walking up had most of us going "WTF!"...

SS4 was crazy - I have to agree; walking up it looks completely unrideable.  I started 4th on SS4 and I can tell you it was flippen intimidating when Rupert, Stiaan and (can't remember who was 3rd anymore) took off. I blacked out and can only recall like 4 parts of that 2.5km rock garden...somehow managed to stay upright and keep my bike in one piece.
