Woman who jumped off pier rescued

 

A 60-year-old woman who jumped off Hobie Beach pier during the early hours of this morning was rescued by passing cyclists.

The woman, who is visiting Port Elizabeth, is believed to have attempted to commit suicide. Metro EMS have taken her to hospital for treatment.

Being rescued might not be Good News to her . This is something I have never understood , why people " rescue " someone who wants to commit suicide.

how do you commit suicide by jumping off the pier? its not that high.

Pretty far way to swim so probably hoping to drown[emoji15][emoji15]

Having spent many happy days body surfing off that pier in my youth, it would take a very concerted effort to drown. It's only about 10m high and only about 75m or so out to sea, if my memory serves. But that's not taking anything away from the poor lady's plight. :(
