My wife says she is going to report me to my GP if I lose any more weight so no more numbers will be forthcoming  :whistling:

Hence the Hub  name "conversion" from Big Ben.

I am currently pushing 110 - 111 kg's and 1.90m tall.

Somehow, I absolutely love hills  I just feed on the thrill of accomplishment when I summit a big climb, and then the fun begins, when I hit that downhill section and smack the berms and jumps and stuff. The downfall is all the maintenance and upkeep my bike requires from all the excessive abuse it takes.

Being heavy has it's challenges. I am aiming for sub 100, but truth be told, I am still eating like a pig. I suppose I could drop some substantial weight if I discipline myself in my diet.

I want to ride 500km plus this December, mostly LSD rides. I hear this helps with weight loss as well.

should be do-able over December .... we average 1000km per month commuting. Given it is mostly flat, we do have to contend with a healthy south easter for 500km of the 1000km.

I'm 1.76m weighing in at 89kg. Until June this year I was sitting between 80 and 83. Ride more. eat less.

So here is an idea...pre-race weigh ins......bike and rider.....heaviest rider sets standard for rest. Would love to see some of the lighter ones with 30-35kg strapped to their backs to level the field........in dreamland.

This is what they do in Karting and in some Motor racing. So you enter weight based formulas.

I will travel a long way to race a 65kg'er with 35kg of ballast added to his back.

So you have met V12man?

We were cycling up Northcliff just after he got back from Joburg2C and I weighed exactly 50% of his body weight more than him.

Ja I know that story well. A mate I did Epic with in 2006 was at his ideal race weight of 60 kg during the race when I was lean and mean at 91kgs.

And he couldn't understand why I burned so many moe calories than him on the monitors at the end of the day - he was affronted - he felt like it showed he wasn't working hard. I offered to help him by giving him some stuff to carry to let him experience the climbs like i was - but he wasn't biting.

Man, I'm going to love shredding this thread, and most of you are going to swear at me, but hear me out and I think you'll understand what I'm trying to say....

YOU ARE ALL A BUNCH OF GIRLS!!

I am over 2 meters (6,6) and race weight is around 95kg, I wear size 14 shoes and ride Alu 63cm Merckx's. I have won the Induvidual TT in just about every age group cat in Prov and National level. I have won, yes won SA hill climb champs in Grasskop for 4 years running. I have won the Magoebaskloof race 4 or 5 times, and many of the big races in SA and have been doing this awesome sport for close to 30 years. Being big and relatively heavy has its drawbacks but believe me, if your train correctly, use your power and be smart, you will crush any feather weight at everything! As a tall person, or heavy rider, your power will be much higher than a 70 kg guy, so use it, the only reason the climber drop you is because they can accelerate quickly, counter that.... don't allow the climbers a easy ride up to the climb, get to the front and ride hard towards the climb, and these things will be mud flapping off the back, and on the climb their legs will be blown. Big guys have Big power.... I can promise you, all you lot that are close to 100kg can easily push 400 Watts and due to weight and momentum can hold that a long time..... no climber can do that! Prioritise flattish races that will most likely end in a bunch sprint, but don't allow that, try get away with a small group towards the finish, a good few km out and get to the front and unleash that 400 Watts, every time you go through, go really hard, force the rest to struggle to stay on your wheel and not recover! Trust me, it works!! And train long intervals of 5km or more, not short bursts....

Remember a certain Big Mig Indurain, 5 tours in a row, he won those Tours in the TT and stayed with the climbers in the mountains, very similar to this years Tour of Spain.... Big guys can, and Do win!!

How did I miss this post......great achievemnents......but at 95 kg's with your height you are not heavy..........
