I am comfortable ony 32t where i ride and my thoughts were that if the oval makes thinfs a little easier then maybe a 34t would be good. Then i thought about coupling that with a wide range praxis cassette to compensate for any difficulties in turning the thing over....and the funds are just going to fall from the heavens to make it happen:)

Where did you buy if from with that returns policy?

Bought if from an authorised dealer in the UK.   I saw the AB 30 day swap out policy on their FB page

does an oval ring work on a ss?

I will know tonight.

My search on internet plus LBS and supplier indicate that there are always the same number of teeth engaged at all times so should be no hassles.

Colin from Kalbo is nice enough to let me demo a 34 Oval n/w for a couple of rides.  I have been on a 36t n/w for a couple of weeks and really enjoy it, but keen to see if Oval is for me and what the oval will do for my riding and especially tech climbing.

Will give some feedback after a couple of hard climbs.

Why wouldn't it?

Will the tension in the chain not change while the chain ring turns? There is no chain tensioner to take up the slack?

sorry, wasn't trying to be sarcastic :) was meant to be a legit question...but i guess you're right...the tension should change i reckon ...

yep that is my concern but only where there is no tensioner.... the shape of the gear may cause the chain to become slack on the smaller part and tight on the more rounded part...

Now that you mention it that makes sense. In the 12 o clock position the chain slack will be pulled "high" and after 90 degree rotation it will be pulled "far".

So I got my AB 32t oval from Evobikes today and I already have my XT 11spd upgrade kit from Easybike except for my shifter which I am waiting for a I-spec b one which hopefully arrives end of the week.

Guys nope, the chain tension remains the same/constant.

Sounds weird but it works.

Like I said earlier in the thread, I have done thousands of KM with an AB 33 tooth 'oval' ring.

The chain tension does not remain constant, but it does not change enough for it to be an issue should you maintain the chain tension and have a straight chainline.

So, it definitely works but one must tension the chain with the chainring in the right position, otherwise you are asking for broken chains.

Follow the instructions and it is a piece of cake to install correctly.

I short it does work very very well on a SS, but it is NOT as constant nor as straight forward as many of you are suggesting
