Vitality Guide for Dummies

Hi guys, I've been following Myle's posts on Vitality very religiously - as 2016 as approaching I need to get my Vitality points sorted and use the benefits.

Myles posted on the other thread he is working on a guide for dummies - I can't wait for it.

Without placing to much pressure on Myles, I would like to see such guide before the end of 2015 so that I can get my stuff sorted for the new year.

Having said that, I repeat my post on the other thread that I'm prepared to pay for such guide on condition that Myles pm it to me or any other interested hubber. I don't expect a freebie from Myles.

I'm sure there are other hubbers who will benefit from it and willing to pay.

Can I get an idea of anyone else who is willing to pay to that I can place "pressure" on Myles to expedite the guide.

It feels dirty that Myles did not start this thread....

Lol. But that's fine. I'm a dirty, dirty boy.

Seriously though. Never thought of asking for cash for it, but both Latent and Bloukrans have said they would be willing to pay for an in depth guide to how it all works, so I told Bloukrans to go ahead with the thread.

I'm busy putting it together, and it should be ready by Monday. Hopefully. It's already at 700 plus words...

And hey. Extra cash is always good...

I must have missed something here.

Can someone point me in the right direction please? I want to know more about Mayles and his Vitality Guide.

Myles is still working on the guide!

My solution to Vitality for dummies was to cancel it (took nearly 15minutes on the phone to convince mr Call centre Consultant that if I don't use the benefits, paying for the facility didn't really make sense).

I now feel free to shop at shops of my choice, to ride my bike instead of going to gym (and I don't have a guilty conscience about it), to go on holidays to destinations of my choice, I purchase 1 quality magazine subscription instead of numerous ones I'm not really interested in and I don't have the stress of trying to do stuff to get my vitality status up.

Why not ask your company's HR department to have a Discovery consultant come out and explain everything to you? Consultant can also check if you on correct medical plan and advise best plan to suite you, its free service.

I'm also keen to have a simple written guide to use for this. Atm I feel it is too much irritating admin and I just ignore it. If anyone wants to sell me more Discovery anything, I do my best to avoid it because I want my life to become simpler, not more complicated.

The last Consultant that tried to explain it to me sounded so much like a fervent tv evangelist that my brain shut down into self preservation mode! So, I suppose I'm partly to blame

Read the guide provided on the Discovery website of how to get to gold, I am usually on gold by the end of Feb every year, it is easy to do!

Once on gold status your benefits are much improved and learning how to get to gold and doing it, shows you also how to make the most of the rewards available with Discovery!

It takes not a lot of effort, but a little time and put some effort into it.

There is no dark mistery or hidden art to it... all the info is there!

From what I can see here is that many want someone else to do it for them, and are lazy to do it themselves.

You will soon find out that discovery products are interactive such as vitality, you need to interact often if not daily with vitality to reap the most from the rewards... if you don't then the benefits no longer become benefits... so in a nutshell embrace it ! Most interact with their favourite software whether Garmin connect, strava etc on a weekly or daily basis and all you have to do is link that to Discovery and the interaction is automatic!

Once into vitality, link with pnp/woolies, sportsmans/totalsports, dischem/clicks and you can get cash back just for swiping a store card when you shop there.

Consider the credit card, there are added and increased % benefits when using as well as getting discovery miles that you can shop with.

Once you have downloaded and read as well as followed the instructions to get to gold, the vitality awards we all are discussing become second nature and easy to do and follow!

It is easy if you make the effort !!

Edit: for those too lazy to Google, how to get to gold https://www.discovery.co.za/portal/individual/vitality-news-sep14-gold-vitality-status

Edit 2: and have not even mentioned the discounts on travel, hotels, shopping as further benefits

And for some of those people out there, going onto the discovery website itself already poses "technical challenges"....
