All I can say is WTF!!!

Today, while out on a little ride through The Durbanville, I broke a spoke on Racecourse road.

Knowing that the ride back to Plattekloof would be a tester with a wobbly wheel, I decided to get it fixed while in the area.

It was 16h45 and we called Deon at Cyclefubatic telling him that I will be there soon.

I managed to get there at 16h55 well within the workshops trading times which only closes at 17h00.

The new workshop dude, took my bike in, no questions asked, saying "I'll see what I can do" WHAT THE HELL??? He let me sit on a comfy chair too, getting weird now.

A few minutes later Deon strolled in, walked up to me, shook my hand and offered me a coffee, which he made himself. I was starting to get suspicious by this point and kept glancing at my bike through the big workshop window.

He chatted to me about all sorts of ***, and it was quite fun. This went on for about half an hour.

The workshop dude then gave me my bike back, I went to settle the account for a new spoke and wheel tune.

R100

Yes, one hundred of my hard earned rands. WHAT THE ACTUAL EFF!!!

I said bye and was on my way.

On the ride back, I kept scratching my head wondering how such great service, personal attention and stupidily low prices still exist. I was expecting to may much more than that to be honest taking into account the overtime the guys worked, the chats, the coffee...... Effectively I had 2 x peoples attention for 30 mins each. Thats an hours labour, all the parts and the skills for R100, and then "we" usually still have the audacity to push these guys for discount.

I wish I could call Cyclefunatic my LBS... I would go there each time if I could.

Deon - THANK YOU!!!

Also love that story. Patch out of interest, I being a seldom hubber. What's the deal with your profile pic? Are you an SA Borat?

I asked my designers (the guys who do my website, social media, print etc) to design me a new kit. So they thought it would be funny to take an old Movember pic of me and Photoshop it onto that pose..... It was cheeky of them, but it's funny :) Now I'm proud of it.

Well I too have a major RANT about Cyclefunatic, however mine is way more serious as it involves a very large amount of R1450. I am actually considering taking it to the consumer council for unfair practise by my LBS as they willingly forced me to prematurely purchase a heavily discounted pair of Impact VXi FIVE Ten shoes by placing them on a table of goods marked with a board indicating 50% discount. It also didn't help that the shoes were my size and fitted perfectly! I was then forced to the till area and 'made'to pay promptly and since it all happened so fast I had no option of backing out of the deal. Furthermore Patch got a whole half an hour for R100 and I had to part with R1450 for just 5 minutes. So, I may just go back there soon again to check on any more of these ludicrous deals and will report back to all if I find any more untoward behaviour from these guys. Check it out at your own peril!
