Really enjoyed today, I recon this is my first proper race to date, worked in the front of B, part of the Germiston Wheelers red train :), tried some "attacks" (which did not work ha ha).helped some friends get into the top 3 and came in 5th. Great experience today. And ride with a good mate who I have not seen in ages. All round good day.

Well done to all that competed today.

Now just imagine as has been suggested riders could still pick up there numbers at the venue, they would have been seriously delayed. I planned to be there with plenty of time to spare and ended up just getting to my start group with about a minute to spare.

I thought it was well organized and for the most part well marshaled. Had no issues with the traffic. It's always going to be a bit busy getting all the people in and out of places suitable to host a race. Get up earlier and just chill.

I did, seems like everyone else had the same idea.

Was awesome!! My fiancé and his mates dropped back to ride with friend in D which I think had a better pace for me than C would have. A few crashes in first ten km hope michelle from team edenglen is ok. Jittery bunch. Also I think oncoming cars forced idiots riding on the right back into the bunch causing crashes.

Was very flat think 555m ascent in 96km so did my best ever time 2.45. Not very fit so pleased with today. Nice day out and a great way to mark my first year anniversary as a Jozi resident.

Edit * riding on the right hand side of the road - over the white line, which at PPA races in CT they told us we would get DQ for.

I crashed at 6km. Some idiots over white line pulled in fast with the oncoming car. Knocked over the poor oke in team vitality kit in front of me. I crashed into him. Took me 30 secs to get going again after straightening handlebar and left brake. Tried for 15km to catch The C batch but failed.

I latched onto front of D batch and stayed with then to the end. 2h44. Not bad

Saw plenty times riders over the line. Was pissed off with them after the crash.

I was just to the left of you and slightly behind. What you describe is exactly as I saw it. Glad you are OK. How was the guy you rode into?

After that incident I made my way up to front 10 riders and stayed there till the end. Too hectic at the back

Got a 2:45...That's like 35km/h over the distance. Didn't even think my legs could pedal that fast  :w00t:

Well done! Nice seeing you there, you are clearly enjoying this road bike thing ;)

The jittery bunches at this particular race caused me a big fall 4 years ago and since then I am hesitant to stay with them and prefer to just hammer along at my own pace. Rode the first 20k's with the BL bunch (nutters I tell you   ) then decided to rather leave that bus and just let them go a bit and then rode on my own till 35k's or so .... then managed to hook up with the CL bunch from there to the end, still a big fall as we headed up that little hill towards Kareekloof/Suikerbosrand. Luckily my stay on the outside near the front strategy paid off as I was able to avoid it   - hope all of those fallers are OK!

Had one or 2 moments but otherwise I enjoyed the ride ... left super early as we knew traffic would be a problem in and was at the start pen 20mins before the start.

In a parting note I got the SHOES this time   - gave them to our domestic just now for her son's little boy :)

WRT the Traffic.

I relied on GPS routing to get me to the venue. We stopped at the Engen as the wife needed a pit stop and I knew the facilities at that track from motorbike days. Anyway long story short it rerouted me around the back and I was actually on the finish of the race. Got in to the track no problem and with lots of time.

Lesson is - Google Maps is the business and its super fast and clever on the reroute. I can say its the third time its saved me this month.

Just saying.

If you are going to be the hub grammar Nazi then you should correct all spelling issues not just the big guys ;)

Imagine we had a permanent number for the year?

One can dream........

I did something completely alien - decided to focus on Duathlon this year with the aim of making the AG TSA team to Spain so my training has taken a completely different twist. So yesterday was a 10km warm-up, 40kmTT, 10km recover and 30km Endurance set. Was on my own for most of the day. Started in AL, BL caught me on 50km and CL at about 80km. Was very tempted to grab them towards the end! And then a nice little run off the bike to finish the day.

Was properly smashed yesterday afternoon...

I'm going to be giving this one a miss in future, until this problem is sorted out.

Can be as easy as having a few marshalls with gopro cameras, anyone found in the shot over the white line, gets banned - end of story
