with regards to illegal sports streams..9/10 times they are poor because they are hacks with low bandwidth for the number of users etc etc. If sports watching is something you would consider as a requirement when streaming then I would recommend paying for one of the streaming services where they can guarantee upload speeds on their side

Agree with this. I subscribed to NTV.mx for a few months to access quality Sky Sports but then decided to just take it as it goes along. But admittedly it is frustrating at times

@Stretch, Does Mobdro have a sports option and if so, how well does it work?

Android boxes with 2GB Ram proving tough to lay my hands on... not keen to wait two weeks, but might just have too

then go the Raspberry pi route..

order now and you'll have by tomorrow.

very capable.. little more work to set up..ie download Noobs and install on SD card

once set up, you can use your smart phone to control..

and if you change later on to an android box, well you can use the PI as a media server..

if you do go this route, don't hesitate to shout out if need some help..

Thanks man, have sent out a couple mails, hoping to get lucky, but otherwise might head this route. Will definitely need help, not the most tech savvy ;)

Appreciate the offer

I have done this with 2 original Rasbpi B+ using openmediavault, works great as a NAS and being able to reuse original pi's that were superseded and living in a draw :)

They are on back order though...

You can get the 1GB version for less from the same site. So far no issues with it

Ended up going with this http://www.geewiz.co.za/media-players/35684-mxq-pro-plus-2gb-16gb-4k-smart-tv-box-mx3-m-air-mouse-mini-wireless-keyboard-remote-control.html

It's on backorder though, so going to be a bit of a wait. Rather wait a bit though and get the right thing - my laptop will suffice in the interim.
