Creak can come from the front shock also. Fox's usual steerer/stanction creak and according to my research the issue has crept in with many a RS Pike also. Some warranty replacements coming with the creak as standard.

I have a creaking seat... the saddle moves on the rails and creaks... had someone saying my ass is creaking during Saturdays race...

After all the weight related issues i have had with the fulcrum wheels...i made a point of visiting cyclesphere to verify that there is no weight restriction on the anthem frame...they informed me...there is no weight restriction...so that is all clear...i am 1.8 m tall...it was between the med or large...i took the large because i also felt the med was a bit cramped...and when flying down the single track i dont want to fly over the handle bars...

So I decided that since I have nothing in terms of warranty to lose, I shall get it welded.

This is what it looks like now:

If you don't hear from me again, then it hasn't broken and it was R150 well spent!

My experience with that type of weld is that not long afterwards it cracked just ahead of the new weld ..... I hope for your sake you have more success!

I have tried all of the following:

New Headset

New BB

All pivot bearings replaced included bushes on rear shock mounts. No play anywhere

Shock service to front and rear

Greased skewers

Greased every bolt on the handlebars and seat post

Greased threads on pedals

Creak is intermittent. Goes away after a clean and wash and then a ride ortwo later its back

Creak appears to come form the front area and happens when you get out the saddle on a climb. The front shock is out of warranty so a steerer/stanchion replacement is R3500.

Perhaps that is the fault

It will go away when I upgrade

Ja. The trouble with this kind of repair is that the metal on and adjacent to the weld gets super-heated, independent of the rest of the frame. This once cooled causes the "hardness" of the welded area to differ from the adjacent metal, which will ultimately results in a crack as you have said. This is definitely not a long term solution. The only way to get around this is to strip and "bake" the entire frame. and let it all cool down at the same rate. It is probably too late for that already though...

If it is the steerer/stantion problem there is a quick diy fix involving Superglue and your fork upside down. This has worked well for a friend.

I had a similar problem on my Anthem.  Thought it was the headset, but eventually narrowed down to brake cable rubbing on the headtube.

Do share please!

I assume that it is a little bit of superglue on the stanchion/crown interface and alot more on the interfaces between your fingers... but I could also be horribly wrong.

My friend explained how they slowly and carefully introduced the glue at the stantion/crown lip area. The glue must be the very thin runny type, not the thick stuff. Hold in position overnight. His Fox fork is now silent.

What worked for for me was to have the chainring bolts removed, greased en torqued again. Nice and cheap exercise.

If it gets to this point where i would have to do this to my frame... i would machine a top and bottom brace and weld them as supports above and below the crossbeam at angle...that way you have welds in new locations.
