Same thing happened with the 3rd bunch of VA when we merged with the short distance guys and end up mixing it with us. Was taken out almost 3 times and then I decided I will sit in front and rev up the pace. Nobody was willing to help but they wanted to sprint for 30th place.

Thanks for the rider with the red Time machine who came up front and shared the workload. Just laughed at the guys when they started to pass me 1km to go.

Hey bud, reckon i was in that group as well. I tried several times to get some rotation but to no avail.

Tried a small surge at the end, but was already spent. Laugh how the okes happy to sit wheel then dice at the end.

I was on black and red Bianchi

Agreed. I was on a white propel with Team Genasys kit. The race is 116km not 1km. I did my work as a team member at the front for the 1st 55km when my stomach began cramping so I limped home.

I also tried shouting and showing rotation signals. Well next race I won't be at the back helping.

I was in Cl and the pace upfront was insane. Or maybe I'm just slow :whistling:  We were going out after the S bends at well over 50kph and I couldn't catch the lead guys. Burnt too many matches there.

Had a nice group up to just before the big climb at the back of Suikerbos. That crosswind on the fast downhill section was the end of me. I can't do crosswinds.

We had a bunch coming out of Heidelberg but everyone was waiting for someone to go pick up the pace. I would've had I not been so stuffed. Looks like everyone was a little tender after this ride. My legs were sore and I just nursed myself home. Other than that I was ok.

Didn't see any crashes. Although my wife took a tumble in the short ride   She's ok rode to the end. I passed  her and fixed her bike a bit.

Had a great race, started in EL and I must say it was a good bunch, no crashes that I saw, and great communication too. 9 minutes slower than last year...im blaming the wind (ok and the extra 2kg on the hips!).

The VP group passed me, about 25 max of them, riding with their bike marshall right behind them and all spread out on the right hand lane. I cannot understand how that is allowed. I will be emailing the organisers again. If we want to take road accidents seriously and expect motorists to tow the line, then we need to listen to the rules.

Stupid uneducated git female in a blue jersey in EL tossing your wrapper - you would have gotten a mouthful if I was closer to you at the time.

Well done guys and girls!

I remember you. Saw your kit last week as well.

Is my second VA race and must say the group generally rides way better than A group in my opinion. Even if these little pet hates still exist.

VA is much better than open seeded. This is only my 1st year in VA but having loads of fun.

Bit of a chage of topic..... I have noticed all these races are pushing the entry fees but giving absolute crap in the goodie bags.

We used to get a tee shirt and a waterbottle for this race, not a bunch of crap that ended in the dustbin this year.

Maybe time to go back to running

I surely hope you do not enter races for the goodie bags

I've always seen goodie bags as a bag containing promotional items. Never seen it as part of an entitlement due to an entry fee

FWIW there is no goody bag next week... #justsaying

Seems a lot of service providers are jumping on the "weak rand" bandwagon to pass on price increases, and we''re not talking single digit increases.

A case of "take it or leave it, that's the new price".

awesome race in VA

Must say when we hit that turn into the headwind I was too far back

Passing group after group but never making it to the front

From there on it was chasing all the way, sometimes on my own sometimes with peeps but good fun

Also had some fun in the last km, but I did my fair share of work.

Surprised when racetec said I finished 21st overall and 12 in VA, did not expect that

That was my 3rd VA race, still rock hard. Gonna be an interesting year

Good event, was my second and I was 1:03 quicker vs last year. But I'm still slow...

But that wind, ouch it was terrible.

Marshaling at the back was good, noticed 2 guys from GL that were asked to stop.

Also sorry to the person that clipped my back wheel and went down, hope you don't have any serious injuries.

The wind was a blixem, but I still hoped to do better than 3H14.

This was my first race in A and I honestly thought that the guys will know how to work together and rotate.

I tried a number of times to get it going, but only 3 or 4 guys were willing to help.

I was also amazed to see what kind of risks the guys took, weaving between the shorter distance riders for 50TH place. I actually thought when I saw the guys starting to sprint that I missed something and that we were in the leading bunch.

All in all, a very nice organised race. My only rant is that there was only warm powerade at the finish and no water. Oh yeah and the short route riders.

Will definitely be back next year.

Rode Racing Juniors, and we started with elites. Did the first 45 km in 1h the next 45 km in 1h30 and the last 26 kays in a hour. The wind at the backside of Suikerbosrand killed me. Most of the Juniors got dropped as we turned towards Suikerbosrand at approximately 47km and rode mostly solo. Well done to Joshua who won in 3:01.

The race was really well organised in my opinion.
