Slight hijack but I know there is a method to do a DIY modification using an in-line coke bottle as a kind of reservoir when trying to inflate a tubeless setup without a compressor. Builds pressure I suppose which can be used in one big burst, or something.

Does this ring a bell with anybody????

I assume this is the kind of thing you're referring to:

Use at own risk, take appropriate safety measures, etc.. You are of course creating a high pressure bomb :).

There is a thread on this - but I reccomend you don't do it - it's f..ing dangerous - flying PET is sharp....

Rather get a used welding CO2 cannister and use that with some air tool adapers - it can take the presure easily.

And there is a commercial version too that loos very nice.

What puts me off most of these pumps is the adapter that connects to the valve.  Most have the rubber grommet that just presses over the valve and when it wears out you struggle to inflate your wheel.  The Birzman pumps have a metal adapter called an apogee or something like that, that effortlessly clips onto the valve and makes inflating the wheel child's play.  Just love using my Birzman.

Had this problem with my compressor.

Eventually made a macguyver with some rubber tubing I bought which fit snug over the valve.

My trusty floor pump, bought 20 years ago, expired and I need to get a replacement before Sunday.  Can you recommend a good one, please?

I use it for both road and MTB tyres.

Thanks.

I was out a N Farm today and the front fork had lost pressure,  so rather than go home , on an off chance  I went across to the Complete Cyclist guys that had a boma there and asked them if they could help.

They used a Specialized floor pump that is purpose built to do shocks and tyres. And has the adapters.

So even though I have a Joe Blow, I am getting on of those.

Big dial and can go to 350 PSI for back shocks and it does it all in one.

Not sure the price but if I was getting anything I would get that.

Just read an article on how badly inaccurate the gauges on 90% of floor pumps are. Seems to be the case with the 2 of mine I have tested!

I rely on feel anyway cos most gauges on the pumps are ***...

Hijack. I bought a serfas fp200 8 years ago. The pump easily pump up to 10 bar, the last few months the head come loose at 7 bar. This pump inflated 1000's of wheels over the last 8 years. I would like to buy the exact same pump again. Where would I be able to get one?

anyone know where I can find Birzman pumps in Durban ? Looking for the Maha Apogee with the snap it adapter.

Been using a cheapie Giant pump for last 18 months now but the rubber insert has worn out and it slips off the valve extenders at about 4 bar

If not Birzman, then any other pump that has a screw in type head that won't slip when trying to get to 9 bar.
