LBKloppers Posted February 20, 2018 Share Thanks for the quick reply. R400 is really inexpensive. Is it strong enough to hold a downhill bike? 16kgs?I've been working with one holding an old school tandem. No problems at all.

ChrisF Posted August 17, 2019 Share thread revival here. bike stands, whats better, quick release clamp or normal screw type clamp? Quick release !!!! Pick the bike up, balance with ONE hand, while you operate the quick release with the other hand. BUT ... you VERY soon figure out the correct setting for the quick release .... With Maritz'z 24'' the quick release is set .... two turns out with the wingnut to use it on a 29er .... Edited August 17, 2019 by ChrisF
S-Works Posted August 19, 2019 Share Hi,I gave very good secondhand one for you Ultimate Support one 0833341935I have been looking at purchasing a workshop bike stand for repairs at home, but are only managing to find exorbitantly priced options in LBS - over R4k. There are a couple of good ones on CRC - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/za/en/park-tool-home-mechanic-repair-stand-pcs10/rp-prod12702 But does anyone know of better local options. Is there someone who produces them locally? Thanks.
Stockman Posted May 17, 2023 Share Ok, so we pull this thread into 2023. We have recently purchased ebikes and I am wanting to get a bike stand for services and cleaning. Any suggestion (other than Park) that will be strong enough to handle the 23-25kg bikes.
sirmoun10goat Posted May 17, 2023 Share Why not Park? If it’s a price thing, all good bike stands fall in a price range if Park, even more expensive. There is a reason for the price-the slate sturdy and hold bike still. Cheaper options are not a stable, and the clamps are weaker so the bike moves around a lot ChrisF
michaelbiker Posted May 17, 2023 Share Yeah with a Park, you buy once you cry once. It will last a lifetime. My PCS-10 is going on 8 years old and it still looks like new. If you are on a tight budget, these don't look too bad, but I can't say how durable they are. The clamp appears to be reinforced plastic: https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/p/lifeline-home-mechanic-workstand-inc-mat
