I dunno guys... I was part of this long queue and service was not great nor efficient.

I have used Elliot for the previous 5 years and all drop off's on Sunday after my ride have been seamless. They pack the box in front of u and seal it. 5mins tops and it's done, even with a ton of people pitching up. Decided to give Bike Migration a try as the price differential to Elliot was about R300 per bike x 15 of us travelling together.

I rode Sunday morning, cleaned the bike, sorted out a damaged rear derailleur after a quick trip to the LBS for spares and headed off to drop the bike off.

I don't mind waiting if I was late, but these okes processed so slowly, it was ridiculous. Add to that, the guys forgot to stamp my page. I luckily noticed just before I drove off, but without that stamp, I have no proof that I checked my bike in. Then too, I could have chosen any bike number as there was no process to verify the number I told the guy they assigned to me. If only I remembered the number of that box with the Dogma!

All in all, wasted over an hour of my day and decided I'll stick to Elliot in the future.

Bike Migration should at least send a spy to Elliot to see the process and get some less lethargic guys. Many people ride Sundays too so that period was always going to be busy.

I always wonder about this "whine on thehub" approach. Surely a call to Japie is way more effective than a general hubwhine hoping that Japie will see it?

1 post + no pic generally = hubster trying to whine in cognito...

are we going to see a thread next week about the queue to start the Argus as well?

Totally off topic, but a crap one it was anyway......

Loving my Soma, just put a 130mm Fox fork on the machine, sweet ride, even if I say so myself!

Thanks man!

Back to the standing in the sun.....

Dear Woolworths

Standing at the check out in a long que today was uncalled for. ...

Really OP have you not got something better to gripe about...

Hub Whine.... So many excellent vintages. It is impossible to choose a good one

Btw, riding the argus is stupid, standing in line is stupid. Dammit, cycling is stupid....

Just kidding - enjoy

I hope this oke doesn't complain about the 109km ride he has to do to get his medal.

Think he will be fine as he said he trained both Saturday and Sunday and then practiced endurance of standing in the sun for 1.5hrs  :whistling:

If I get to the start on Sunday and I have to wait more than 5 minutes in the semi-dark, I will be reporting my displeasure right here on theHub.

They have had ample time to organise the event..........

Just make sure you don't get to the start at the same time as anyone else. Imagine getting there with 35000 other people.

Got to King Shaka Cargo Terminal yesterday at 4pm and met the same lethargic blokes at processing. Only difference is that their numbness was caused by "Durban's Finest Poison". Both eyes, same socket.

Cool dudes though. Since I was the only person dropping a bike off we struck a deal. They needed R20 for merchandise and in turn they never noticed the bombs in my bike box. (Illegal on Cargo planes they say). Apparently they will remember me next year for similar, I doubt that.Still, it was service with a smile.

Good deal! Saves you buying that side.

So I work in the aviation industry and I have no idea who made up that stupid rule and why they did. It is of no danger onboard the plane. But unfortunately the security or check-in agent are told to remove them so they just doing their job.

To give you an idea, some of the lifevests are inflated with a CO2 bomb that looks almost exactly the same(it's slightly bigger) then all your toilets have their own fire extingushing bottle which is also a compressed gas. The list goes on. I would love to find the most probably non technical person that made that rule up and ask them why they made the rule.

To Jaapie of The Bike Migration company. Standing in the sun for over 1.5 HOURS (see pics) yesterday to drop our bikes off for Argus was NOT acceptable.  attachicon.gifIMG_0370.JPGattachicon.gifIMG_0369.JPG

You just HAD to do a quick three hour ride before you handed your bike?? So did everyone else!

Perhaps it's because the little co2 cannisters can be used in BB guns, which if they are tweaked and you use metal projectiles can be pretty lethal?

What's happened to the op, have some courage and conviction, come back to the thread!

Ja but then you still have to get the BB gun on the plane, which would be a lot harder then the C02 cannister. I think the fact that they are called bombs scares the crap out of them ..

Probably the same guy that made the ruling about turning cell phones off ... If it was that dangerous to have your phone on they would check themselves if they were turned off and not leave it up to us ..
