Epic 2014 they'd roll into the start chute about 3 mins before the start then pop their bikes on the rear wheel and push through to the front. It lasted 2 days before the entire chute told them where to get off. In my opinion they need stronger mentoring in "life skills". You can give someone the right bikes, training, food, accommodation etc but without a strong mentor to give them the necessary life skills to integrate into mainline riding it'll never work. I emailed Dirk Lourens and Brandon Whiteley back in 2014 with my comments about their riding and life skills with nary a reply (and I even tried to be rational and constructive in my email!!!). I get the feeling that Exxaro are happy to throw money at the cause so their PR machine can take pretty pictures and use them to advertise but I don't get the feeling they're too interested "at ground level". I could be wrong - just my opinion.

Despite the mud slinging and petty turnabouts, this thread has actually raised some fairly poignant issues regarding the state of the cycling community and how we view ourselves, each other and how we expect non cyclists to see us despite our inability to toe the line. I for one think EXXARO should be hauled over the coals for their behaviour. "Jus" needs to follow up his accusations with some substance and we ALL need to stop accepting and exuding such contradictory standards. It is not ok to justify breaking the law. No. We all do it is not a good enough reason... I can just hear my poor mother saying... "well if all your friends jumped in the fire....." Race needs to be put to bed by both the aggressor and the aggrieved. Get over it. You're white, you're black. Nasty words said by an idiot are just mouth farts. They stink but they won't hurt you. And make no mistake only an idiot uses race to 'abuse' others. On one hand it is sad that the internet has given voice to so much whining, so many unsolicited uninformed opinions and yet on the other hand it allows us a far more transparent view of why... of attitudes of opinions of the zeitgeist. Good luck Francois with the ensuing issues, but to be fair, had this happened in 1993, you would have seen it, been aggrieved and moaned about the entitlement to your mates and your missus and used it as an example to your kids as a 'how not to behave' scenario... This airing dirty laundry on a worldwide public forum that ultimately doesn't warn/benefit or help the readers still seems a bit whiny to me. But then I have an issue with people posting love selfies and pictures of their kids in the bath all over social media so maybe it's me....

But no on else realised he did as he was there for a few number of years. So he decided to stay. For free nogal. Until one day he complained about the quality of the breakfast... Once you open this can of worms, you better be prepared. Just think about this for a second: somewhere on here somebody posted that they know you as a hothead...how do you think that single point will be used when lawyers discuss the type of person you are? Everything around it will be ignored. They will dig until they find whatever it is they want to find. Pick your battles. This isn't it in my opinion. You have been so far off the mark this entire thread....give up dude!!!

I will ask the mods top open this once we have an outcome or feedback from Exxaro. The reason was to educate a team to look inward and question their practices (of breaking the law without batting an eye) It is unfortunate that this turned into a racial issue from their side, but so be it. This isn't it in my opinion.I think you missed the tone of the post to which you refer. Your grasp of the law is weak: any such comment would be both irrelevant and immaterial.

Everyone ignores anything he says...? Probably extremely difficult to coordinate with everyone on TheHub...

The desire to start a "fight" is clear and the BikeHub has taken a stance to move away from this type of behaviour. As per discussion with the OP, this thread is now locked as it is no longer serving the intended purpose.
