Ok, so we can do it on a Mtb?, I thought it might be a Cyclo bike only race. I might do it as well, it's a bit far out though.

29er hardtail with fast tyres will be a great choice. If you want to win it, perhaps a CX bike will have the edge?

It's much further (1050km + etolls  ) out for me! Will be riding my steel 29er mtb and rigid fork with knoblies. Going there to have fun and enjoy the hospitality Prince Albert has on offer.

Ditto, a long way from JHB and rigid steel.

The hospitality will be hard earned !

So I've entered, now to find accommodation, most of the B&B's are already booked out, will have to look a bit out of town.

Jip Patch, Renegades and FastTracks, standard Specialized combo, they plenty fast rolling.

Outside of town, look for something in the Prince Albert Valley. It is on the first part of the route and close to town. From the above link: Good ones are Bergwater (good wines also), Angelierbosch & Scheepersrus. Weltevrede is not on the route but close enough and it is fantastic.

Edit: If you struggle, phone the Prince Albert Tourism Buro, they are pretty jacked!

More for the epicures: African Relish school of cooking. Perhaps keep the wife happy while you ride your heart out.

Edit: B.t.w. I have no interest in any of this, other than that I'm a fan of the whole area.
