If Epic wanted to be serious they should have a 7 hour cut off each day,not give the riders enough time to ride, take photos, stop for lunch and still finish the so called toughest mtb race in the world.

Yes, please! Where do I sign... And if Chris comes, it could be even better!

He would first have to learn to look up[emoji6]

"Sitting in the bunch" at World Tour level, is NOT like sitting in the CL open seeded bunch at Emperors.... #justsaying

Many of us could and actually do end up doing the Epic, not many of us would be able to "sit" in a World Tour bunch if the opportunity arose.

That right there is the difference.

I'd be more worried about Peter doing a wheelie up Stairway to Heaven cos he saw Sahm on his e-bike next to him, and he would want to be on TV. :whistling: and then there'd be a Hubfight about style. And they're exhausting...

I have never done the epic (can't afford it) but I am 100% sure it is very hard on the body! But, I have to say that lately it is probably a bigger achievement managing to scrape together the entry fee than finishing the race.

TDF.

It's all a matter of one's POV.  The fact that the sharp end of the field in the Epic consists mostly of Europeans tells you that most probably the average MTB race there is tougher compared to here, thereby preparing them better for a race like the Epic.

Most of our MTBers experience the Epic as though because we are not used to riding enough tough MTB races.  There are a few, like the Attakwas and Tankwa Trek, but not enough.

Just as a further comment.  Most of our MTBers fear a muddy race, whereas for most of those riders from Europe, a muddy race is a normality.  I believe Gerald had a chat to one of the riders from Belgium where this was discussed.
