Stick to Routjies 1000 post rule.

I have bought from a guy with only 2 posts and it was a pleasure dealing with him.

I bought 4 items so far without any priblems.

had 1 bad experience with a guy that had about 18 positive reviews. Bought a "brand new" Kask helmet, and when I collected it from Postnet it looked like it had been through world war 3.

Took some time but I eventually got my money back.

Can't actually believe you got your money back...good to hear though

at least you got your money back!

As a general rule of thumb I only buy from people that I can drive to and have a look at the goods before handing over cash. I don't trust the interweb images

well that's the best but not always possible. While we live in a messed up world with soo much @#$ going on, sometimes its good to just ease up and trust someone.

I have sold a fair bit of expensive second hand items [camera equipment] , and have never had a single come back, so I guess I just expect to have a similar experience.

Will give the hubber until friday and then NAME AND SHAME

And by then the money you paid will be spent on beers for the weekend, NAME & SHAME!!

Ping Rouxtjie, I believe its time to re-post the rules.

To OP, sorry to hear about your experience, I agree with Gummi, give the person another day or so and then let the bikehub judge and jury at him/her.

With pleasure sir. Herewith the "code" for selling as set forth by morgan and bartholomew:

Rule #1. Don't buy from anyone without at least a thousand posts

Rule #2. Don't sell anything until you have reached the 1000 post milestone

Rule #3. Don't buy and sell items to turn a profit

Rule #4. The item you are selling is not worth what you are asking but rather what people are prepared to pay for it

Rule #5. One shall ignore adverts or offers from pastors, dominees, anyone named evan

Rule #6. One shall post adverts with ALL details about the item and minimum one jpeg image of said item/s

Rule #7. One shall not lie about the condition of items being sold..

Rule #8. One shall keep the money after the sale for a period of two weeks to ensure the buyer is happy with the item.

Rule #9. One shall not use the classifieds to sell / spam items when you are a retailer without paying the appropriate dealer / advert fee to thehub

Rule #10. Be lekker, don't accept offer and then sell to another person offering more. Your word is worth more than that

Rule #1 and #2 are a bit rough.  I've been chatting here for a while and done and bought a few deals without issue and I'm still no where near 1000 posts. Does that mean I am not trustworthy?

I also dont plan on just talking crap and spamming threads just to get my count up.

The Rouxminati rules :)

Personally instead of looking first and foremost at post count - I look at how long the person has been around. If the last few days just before the ad was posted, I'm likely to assume the worst.

Then if they've been around a while - they'll likely to have a marketplace history - I check ratings and comments. If ratings are good - proceed - but even then proceed with caution.

dead serious...

There is a good chance that if a pastor / dominee / evan is selling or wants to buy something that they are scammers....well history speaks for itself..

Pastor joe normally phones...says he wants your item but he needs it shipped today for his son....it always starts with pastor something or the other and said pastors have thick nigerian accents. Maybe they think the holy man will buy some goodwill  trust so that you will ship before money is cleared

It will be in your best interest to stay away from selling or buying from pastors / dominees / evan's(do a search)

Was thinking you were referring to Nigerian 'pastors' so yes definitely. My own pastor happens to be a keen surfer and I'm fairly sure he doesn't mention it when he is purchasing surf gear as it has nothing to do with his sport except his conduct.
