Can't give you places to go practice but I can recommend the GMBN's YouTube channel. They have loads of how to videos and they cover some of the things you've mentioned. Having right technique will also help to build confidence. Good luck with upping your skills and confidence!

agree, the video sums up technique for drops

oh ok - rear wheel first.

ummm no.

sometimes it is easier to drop the front wheel first, just depends on the "drop"

EDIT: routijie just posted a video - "anything above axel height".

and it also depends on entry speed.

now in thinking of some slow riders, a front wheel drop off is usually on the cards.

Seth's bike hack videos are awesome. This isn't actually the video I was looking for to post here but its actually better in some ways. Not quite as funny though.

Okay I found it. Its worth watching.

I reckon Seth banged his nuts when he jumped off that bar.

Drops are still my nemesis. I know I can do them, the nopes just take control...

Same here. It is basically similar to a jump. More or less starts  level with the trail and disappears and the jump lifts up from the trail. Still cant understand why I wont do them in a hurry

For me, it's the fear of the front end dipping. Which is stupid, cos as long as I manual off it, it won't. For doubles, it's the fear of the front hitting the face.

For me it's landing..... on all accounts...

WoW, what an informative video......needed to watch that. I did not even know how to manual. Those are great tips and I will practice them thanks. Whenever I get to a slight drop-off the little man in my head says NO-NO-NO. Hopefully I can get that to stop with better technique.

Thanks

its pretty steep but doable.  The loose bricks at the bottom just freaked me out, but like Hennie said if you have speed it wont be a problem, your wheels will roll over them.

Also the chicken out route is way more difficult to negotiate on your bike steep sharp corner most people get off the bike to do it. So going down the drop off will save about a minute or more.
