lol...

1000 will generally mean they have invested some time in contributing. I know it will never be enforced and I get the reasons behind it...doesnt stop me though

There is also a correlation between high post count and a sense of entitlement.  Over the years there have been several "vintage" hubbers who got way ahead of themselves and became self-appointed authorities on everything and everyone.  Always ends the same way - what was that oke, the Captain, or General or something?

But I suppose you are just going to say that this is trolling again, so I can't win.  I know, I am not entitled or qualified  to disagree with a high post count veteran. Sorry in advance.

Maybe 100 forum post credits per transaction for the seller. And if you repost the add another 100 credits gone.

The seller will still have the maximum potential market and best chance of a sale but if you buy all the bargains you better be contributing to sell them here again.

that is an interesting point you raise.

then again...

a forum exists because of posts - without it there would be nothing - in the context of a forum, you could almost consider post count as shares, so just maybe high post count members are somewhat allowed to have some sense of entitlement (or dare I say ownership).

Some users with a high post count are not lekker.

Some users with a low post count are not lekker.

The correlation you speak off does not exist.

You will find many many high post count users here who never post anything that is not positive and constructive. Gummibear and Dale (or whatever his latest alias is) spring to mind but there are more.

In fairness, it is a conundrum.  I  get tired of self-entitled posters who swag around like they own the place, and I diagree with you on this point, as they DON'T own it, they do NOT have shares.

On the other hand, you are right, that without posters you don't have a forum.  So what to do?

I know that's your rule, but I've been here 6 years. I'm sure you'll buy n lekker deal from me if one comes along.

EDIT: Kyk nou net daar!. I've crossed the 900 mark. Getting there.

I would make an exception for you just because I like your profile pic :D

Gummibear and Dale/Puncheur are two very different people.

I hardly ever see Gummi being negative about anything, Dale has strong opinions but he is allowed to - being very knowledgeable about cycling and cyclists.

Some users come across in a certain way because its their sense of humour, you should get to know them by interacting with them a bit more in the various threads.

In all seriousness, I have read quite a few threads where someone has been scammed in the classified section.

So I have always been reluctant to buy from the classified section.

This thread has now pushed me over the edge where I would be very hard pressed to buy anything at all in the classified section.

what happens if a user with +10 000 posts can vouch for or verify a poster of lesser posts?

I would vouch for dre .... even though he rides a spaz, at least the spaz is red.

What to do is to carry on interacting on threads like this, you will get to know people and we will get to know you.

I still maintain that there is no way (other than knowing the person in the real world) to get to know anyone that doesnt post much.

At the end of the day it will be like any community, there will be people you get along with and others that you dont.

Yes I know they are not the same person. Just bad punctuation.

LOL! I have absolutely no idea how this logic works, but weirdly, it makes sense
