No more through town? Much more boring in my opinion. A pedal around the Northern Suburbs of Joburg. I liked Ghandi Square and the rest of it. Took a bit of bike handling skills. An element of risk. Something to look at.

I think I might skip it this year.

treat it like a fun ride, with streets/roads to yourself and no cars.

Stop for coffee/beers along the way and don't ride your road bike.

Sure, the scenery may be boring, but that doesn't mean you can't have fun. The spectators love the guys that interact with them.

I've done that more than raced it... my £2 worth.

Couldn't agree more, raise some money for charity and have a jol on the mtb. Road bike stays at home this year.

what is the race track like in terms of hills

On their route map it's all green, so flat/downhill.... like Eddy said, it's not called "the mineshaft" for nothing - all downhill.

60m of elevation gain over 4.5Km, so that's what... 13.3m up for every 1Km (1.33% average gradient)

Don't forget the Tequila stop in Bryanston

anyone know where I can get turn by turn directions for the new route - want to build something for virtualtraining?

That is beyond impressive. Replicating an already slightly dull route on a trainer.

What to do, what to do... share the .kml file?

I have to agree , even though the smell (stink) wasn't the best in some places.

At least you got to cycle through places you wouldn't usually go to.

That being said i'm still entering.

I can't say I'm upset . That hill on slovo used to destroy my legs and I never quite recover . I'm keen for this new route

You still climb quite a bit up to St Andrews I reckon from previous years experience
