Nikias Arndt is interviewed after being awarded the victory.

"It's a good feeling to get the stage win. It was a hard race today and I think the team worked really hard for me. It was difficult to stay the whole day in position. In the end, it was a nice race with a good finish. I got a nice extra victory.

"It was a difficult decision [official disqualified Giacomo Nizzolo for irregular sprinting]. It was a hard sprint with two hectic corners before hand. Everyone was very nervous and pushing each other. In the end, it was a decision of the jury about whether it was safe or not. For me it was a hard race."

The Giro is such a great GT, in recent years much more entertaining than the TDF.

Chavez impressed me, Jungels impressed me, Wellens, Cunego, Scarponi and of course Kruijswijk.

What a great Giro!

What a great Giro!

I have always been a bit of a Scarponi fan, I think he is a highly underrated athlete, although getting a bit long in the tooth now, a pure climber from the old school there are few who can hold onto him in the big mountains, I felt sorry for him when he was told to stop on Friday's stage and wait, he was well on his way to a stage win and left to his own devices no one would have caught him, a win would have been nice for him.

..and Yes, Jungels has really stepped up to the plate, I think he used some questionable tactics, but as I said earlier maybe its just youthful enthusiasm, either way he competed strongly.

When you all off a sudden go from being dropped on climbs to dropping the field and don't want anyone asking about rest day blood bags, just change your crank length mid length through a grand tour? This was the same tactic Astana uses with Landa last year saying they were using a higher cadence. :/

Was an amazing race, the drama was awesome the match ups all over the GC and the competitions were great to see play out and the swashbuckling 'I must attack to win (and to secure a massive contract with the Sheik next year)' by Nibali should of been thrilling... It' was like a legendary attack from another decade.

But... unfortunately Astana, it's cloud, the amazing reversal of fortunes / performance and the difference in speed between Nibbles and the rest of the peloton on the penultimate stage did leave me feeling overall 'meh' about the event. Not sure why. Shame also that most of the main sprinters left to devalue the Red Jersey Comp' and leave it to the guys who usually duke it out for 7th.

All that aside, the Giro really is such a great event to watch and seems so raw compared to the other two.

My fav' GT of the year so far. ;)

With Astana there will always be a dark cloud hovering above them..

But until there is proof we are just speculating. . The same way we do with all astonishing performances.. ( I take you back to last years TDF. .and the stage after the first rest day[emoji6] )

This Grand Tour was more like a street fight. TdF tends to be orderly and predictable. Nibali won, but unless you believe in miracles it was suspicious. Maybe its just me. Still enjoyed the spectacle.

Agreed, Gen

Doubt in credible victories should be equally spread amongst the top performers

Speculation is just hot air

I'm all for enjoying the grit and thrill of cycling

Once there's proof of rule-breaking, then I turn away from the cheaters

I am past getting upset about what may or may not be rule breaking.. it's too time consuming and takes out the joy of watching the craziness that is racing.

If positives come back or a tell all book with proof is released or whatever. . I will get upset again.. but for now I am just enjoying the racing. And boy what a race it was.

Yip

I'm a fan, a massive one

I'll scream and shout and admire

I leave the UCI police to so their job

No moral twists for me

Bring the remote, coffee, and choccies
