Best headphones for cycling?

So what happens if you are hearing impaired? (Like I am) Are you not allowed to ride on the road?

You have just got to be more aware of your surroundings. I tend to look behind me more than the others i ride with.

I have tried riding with a hearing aid but the sweat damages it very easily and gets VERY expensive. Plus with the wind noise you basically not going to hear anything anyway.

I have now got a cover for my Cochlear Implant, and do ride with that, but once again with the wind noise is very hard to hear anything else.

As for holding up riders behind me, well they shouldn't behind me if they so fast. Once again I do look behind me more than most.

Nobody said that you aren't allowed to ride on the road!

Being hearing impaired and intentionally and unnecessarily impairing your own hearing is two different things.

Nobody can argue that unimpaired hearing is an advantage for safety on a bicycle.

Some people does not like the sound of noisy birds and crickets mating in the grass and listen to music . We most probably all agree that it's not a good idea out on a public road but just because you think you got the right to shout at me from behind to give you track out in a bike park or wherever in the bush and then I fail to do so cause Black Sabbath (which btw was send by the devil) was 10 out of 10 on my Ipod does not really make it unsafe ?

All the poor dude wanted to know was ,  what the best ear phones are !!  Eish

It's a safety thing, not just for you but those around you too. (your post)

Surely I'd be a safety "thing" to those around me?

This poverty excuse is getting out of hand

On the subject of ears ... sorry i cant help but I'd recommend considering something like this for anyone starting out in cycling or still young enough to benefit from it

now you're going to start the whole sunglasses over or under helmut strap argument.

As per your post, you make a concerted effort to make yourself more aware of your surroundings, so I'm not sure anybody can fault you, you are doing the best with the hand that you have been dealt.

There is no debate, its simple:

1. If you fall off regular, wear under the strap.

2. If you go fast and your helmet strap flapping in the wind irritates you, wear over strap.

Piss off with your sensible posts already. You are gonna ruin the mini-Friday potential of this one.

Gnarly! I'm in the same boat as you. I've been hearing impaired both ears all my life and as for cycling - its road bike for about 16 years then moved onto mountain biking the past 9 years after that. What plenty people don't realize that when one of your senses is lost the rest can be heightened. I am super alert and observant when I'm out there. Almost 6th sense. I use an ipod and listen through one ear only when doing long rides......

Unfortunately most of my training rides are done solo as communication is minimal as I cannot hear conversation clearly when in groups.....BUT I still ride on

The answer to the question from this post forum: I slip the earphone cord under my heart rate belt....no movement up and down. It holds in place.
