Hi Lapierre

Its a pretty aggressive XC / Marathon tyre for wet / soft trail conditions. Currently size availability is restricted to 29 x 2.35". We haven't brought any of these in to date, but I can certainly investigate for you further?

And THIS is why people have issues with grip and punctures when things get lairy. Cos they concentrate on weight, where it should be a secondary concern.

735g is a very respectable weight for an MTB tyre, especially in 29er guise.

I race XC and Marathons. I run Non UST tyres as tubeless and almost never have flats or other issues. I think the heaviest tyre I use is Crossmarks which are just over 600g. Currently have very bald Kenda tyres which are just over 500g.

So for my kind of riding... 735g = No.

Anyone else run these and care to comment?

It is a new tire for 2016 and I see they are also standard issue on some of the 2017 Scott Sparks!

I would like to import as they won't be available locally for some time, but would like some feedback before committing...

Hi All

Anyone familiar with this "new" XC tire ?

Running Ikon at the back - looking for better upfront .

Thank you

Still running Ikon on the back but replaced the front Ikon with an Ardent Race 2:35, comparing the two side by side both have plenty grip but from the tread pattern looks like the Ardent Race may roll better.

Hi Lapierre

What did you go with in the end? I am facing the same challenge...

I have been looking at them as well. I have Hans Damphs at the moment and want something more free rolling, but without loosing too much grip. I have tried the Ardent Races but they don't seem to offer to much more grip over a Barzo.

But there is something odd in their description.  They getting rave reviews overseas and as one guy noted in a review forum, they were initially launched as an all conditions tire. Then the web-site changed its description of them to 'wet muddy' conditions.

I may have mates coming over from the States in Jan and may order one or two then.

From what I read the application description on the Maxxis site differs from the actual packaging and it is actually performing very well in dry conditions as well...

They certainly do work better in the wet.

Those side knobs look like they came straight off of a Schwalbe tyre.

The tyre is billed as a XC tyre for intermediate/wet conditions. Looks like it could also work as a slightly grippier XC tyre for year round use.

Got mine today from a fellow hubber that wanted something less aggressive.

Can't wait to get it mounted up and ride. I am sure my cornering confidence will increase 10 fold as it will be replacing a crossmark up front  :w00t:  ^_^.
