I don't want to be funny, but I fail to see why having your stuff exposed to the elements is a better option than this :

I need to ALWAYS have a syringe and adrenaline ampule with me, so keeping it on my bike is a sure way of not forgetting it.

In addition, the saddlebag contains a tube, bomb, small multi tool and some cash. Food and phone go in my pocket and liquids in bottles.

I think missing wheels is a bigger problem when it comes to the actual riding part??

That reminds me, I fitted a Y.A.W.Y.D. top cap I found in my cupboard and it needs an appropriate adornment.

That's going to be swapped likkety split with a pink HTFU cap..

If you really have to use one, then please take few old socks and place your metal spares and tubes in them. That way the rest us won't have to put up with you clanking around on the trails. You might find that it protects your tubes from chafe and destruction too.

This.  And you can use the okd socks as a rag afterwards.

The sock idea is a good one; it's worth pampering and checking those tubes as the joke of carting a saddle bag can bounce flat when you loftily install your spare tube only to find it is perished (ja, happened to me twice). Then you are on the bum; well the borrow.

To add: Use a small one, just big enough to get all your stuff in, and tighten it securely so it doesn't dangle around. It will be silent.

Quite hilarious all the talk about looking cool or not looking cool, when a lot of us, me especially, wear Lycra cycling gear, which certainly will never look cool on me.

:D True that for just about everyone. And those few who look good in lycra then put on helmets and they also look silly.

Edit....and CRAZY sunglasses

Not big on the "what looks cool or not" I ride with saddlebag, unshaven legs and dressed in whatever is comfortable and practical. It's not a fashion show.
