triguycpt Posted November 18, 2016 Share I've only recently started the no sock thing on the cycle, and I must admit it's absolutely fine and saves time in T1, by the time you get to T2 it's easy to slip on a pair of race socks To sock or not to sock at a tri? MarkW Posted November 21, 2016 Share Good morning everyone I'm in the process of buying my first wetsuit. I've narrowed the options down to xterra Vortex or vector pro x3 and orca s5. Currently I'm only doing sprints but next year I'll be doing standard distance leading up to 70.3. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Davey_Jones Posted November 21, 2016 Share Just email them and ask. They custom make the tri wetsuits for you, they give you a chart on where to take measurements if you cant get to them. Couple guys on my team have them they very happy with them. Think they close to R3k could be wrong. MarkW

The others didn't fit me so best to try them all on to see which works for you. Wasn't going to complain as the speedo was almost R2000 cheaper. Coral has the advantage that they will make it custom and also cheaper than the Orca's. MarkW

Beesrib Posted November 22, 2016 Share my hopes of really getting a proper tri done are looking slim. Have not had a swim in months, since the only available pool was closed due to poor maintenance, and now the pool is under construction, making it smaller by almost 10 meters. Running have become a painful activity because of a busted knee that does not want to get better. Struggled to do 3km this morning. At least the cycling part is going ok, so if all else fails at least I will still be a cyclist. mon-goose
Beesrib Posted November 22, 2016 Share Brilliant. Thanks.will you be able to wear this in any event? will a shorty suit like this still help with the swimming and keep you from sinking to the bottom? How much will this help with body temps in cold water? sorry for all the questions, just thinking about if you have to choose between this and a full suit? ta

I specifically want the "smallest" suit I can wear and still be legal for wetsuit compulsory events. I don't think this is legal btw but Terry will confirm. If it is not then I will go with an armless wetsuit. The picture is of a swimsuit and not really a wetsuit. It does have a level of buoyancy but much less than proper wetsuits. It will make you faster but I doubt it would do much for body temp I hate wetsuits and would raterh swim in my trusty speedo however I don't want to be DQd in compulsory swims so looking for alternatives to the big lumbering wet suits. by far and way my best discipline is swimming, used to open water swimming where wetsuits are not permitted so swimming in one I find very restrictive. will update once I hear from Xterra
