Julian Dean the unlucky recipient iirc! Also don't recall a complaint being lodged but it did happen in the TdF and it seems the Race Commissioners take their job very seriously so perhaps nothing but footage of the incident was required.

However it's still crazy that Bouhani got away with it. Oh wait he's French ain't he and on a French team. That's probably why. Can't not have the best French sprinter out of the race!

On the face of it, today's stage looks like one of those typical 'transition' stages in the TDF between the sprints and the mountains.

Not a huge elevation gain, but lumpy enough to tire the legs out, especially if the pace is high (which it will be on a day like today - lots of the non-sprinters and non-climbers will be eyeing this stage, so they will be going hell for leather from the gun).

The finale is what makes it very interesting. The last 22 km is a long gradual climb split into two sections.

Although long, it's not difficult enough to remove the puncheurs, so we should see lots of attacks. It is possible for a few riders to surprise the bunch and deny us a big finish, but they can’t be a threat for the overall title. It really should be an exciting finish to the race.

This looks like a finish tailormade for punchy riders who love a hard uphill sprint finish (that last bit to the line is about 1.5 km long and a little over 6%). Riders who excel in races like the Ardennes Classics.

So guys like Alaphilippe, Dan Martin, Gasparotto, Gerrans, Kwaitkowski, Gallopin and GVA.

Weather forecast:
Apparently another humid day with a good chance of thunderstorms at the end of the stage. That should make it fun!

The finale:

I would say watch Martin today.. but I am not over his moaning.. so I am saying watch Degenkolb today.. perfect day for him to give it a go and test the form after his injury.

I will have my eye on EBH because Im ridiculously patriotic and my family is Norwegian and he rides for DD so double incentive.

Also watching out for Dimpey. He looks to have good form and this stage could suit him. I bet his mom had her eyes closed during yesterdays sprint.

Alaphilippe and Dan Martin are both looking in top shape.

I see that young Alexis Gougeard (AG2R-La Mondiale) has made the break with Teklehaimanot and a couple of others.

Watch that kid - he's super strong. Might just be his day today...

Dan Martin is my dark horse pick for today's stage win. The Irishman is a classy rider imho.

But like a few others I fancy Alaphilippe should be good for the win but will keep an eye on Gougeard since you seem to have a good eye for spotting serious talent!

151km remaining from 167.5km

The six leaders have a gap of 45 seconds over the peloton, which is still being led by Alberto Contador's Tinkoff teammates.

Whoohoooo!!

Teklehaimanot led the escapees over the Durbize, incidentally. The Eritrean won the King of the Mountains classification at last year's Dauphine and seems to have the same prize in mind here.

Teklehaimanot is joined off the front by Alexey Lutsenko (Astana), Alexis Gougeard (AG2R-La Mondiale), Bartosz Huzarski (Bora-Argon 18), Jack Bauer (Cannondale) and Lilian Calméjane (Direct Energie).
