Also heard nothing.

I know Cape has been earmarked as the province of choice.

Grant is pretty busy being a pro rider for team Kargo, in addition to getting ready for Iron Bike

In between owning a bike shop and training, I guess the champs may not be his main focus at the moment which is understandable.

Sadly, logistically I'm out if it is indeed being held in the Cape province.

tell me more!

Surely no such actual thing exists, well no actual title run by CSA etc. so it's really open to anyone to declare an event as the 'unofficial' SA SS champs. the most obvious way would be to do what the worlds does - and award the hosting rights to the next event at the conclusion of the current event.

Cape town was selected at the 2013 event, by means of mass participation of all event attendees.

Not sure why it was not held in Cape province last year, but I think time and logistics played a part.

The event is certainly not owned by any one person in SA, and the closest you will get to CSA at the event is to use it as an abbreviation for Constantly Sucking Alcohol.

Swampdogs are kinda the custodians of the event, and I am sure the organizing of this will get a bit of a push-start if more volunteers become involved in trying to make this a reality.

kiff, so the 2013 event selected the 2015 venue as 2014 had already been planned? I'm sort of hazy on the history here. What has there been since SSWC2012

i think so much went into making SSWC2012 such a huge success that many are scared of trying to put on a half baked affair!

I may have had my dates mixed up there...last year's event was a bit of a consolation event as I understand, because the Cape province event did not happen for whatever reason.

So to get facts straight

2012 was the big one.

2013 was farmasutra i think??

2014 was The hilss come alive with the ssound of mussic

2015 may have been farmasutra revisited

2016 ?????

Not sure why I am bothering posting with half baked info... sorry.

Not the exact same route as 2012, most of it though and still super fun! small number of entries, but all awesome, beer drinking, people.

there was a bid from the Magical Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho for this year

But like RnR said, Grant's plate's rather full, can't see anything being arranged by him.

Just putting out a random here.

Would be pretty cool if there was a loose 'series'.

Think there's traction from riders to have one in WC, KZN and Gauteng/surrounds each. Get held every year and take turns to organise the 'big one' on a rotational basis.

The only way it will work is if it's run by clubs(ie. volunteers) or the organisers put enough fat in the pricing so they can make something from it without ripping people off.

my feeling is that a bare bones event with very little frills is better than no event.

I chatted to Darren from Hero about possibly doing something at Hobby Park, said he'd have a look and post on the thread when he has a gap.
