Forks suspension was mainly those squeezable plastic/polymer long disc thingies ... I still have a lovely machined Manito fork with them in the archives

Elastomers. Some of my 90's bike still have forks that use them.

When those polymer (different colours supposedly meant different 'spring') got a bit hard we used to boil them for a while .... then supposedly felt a difference  :ph34r:

Yup, the forks were always more supple when the bike was standing in the sun for a bit. If it was freezing, you had a rigid.

Travel was kinda limited .. but the Manitou forks looked good and got a lot of attention

Those replacements from Suspension Fork Parts are actually quite good. I use a set in my Manitou EFC fork. :-)
