Elastomers. Some of my 90's bike still have forks that use them.

When those polymer (different colours supposedly meant different 'spring') got a bit hard we used to boil them for a while .... then supposedly felt a difference

Yup, the forks were always more supple when the bike was standing in the sun for a bit. If it was freezing, you had a rigid.

Those replacements from Suspension Fork Parts are actually quite good. I use a set in my Manitou EFC fork. :-)
