JRA = just riding along?

Johannesburg roads agency - allegedly - TFU more like it...

In Eddy's case - not riding along anymore.... but he did get a good breakfast out of it...

Tell me more.

I hit an open water main inspection hatch at 47kph last week and pinch flatted two tubes and dented a rim.

Hypothetically, how does one go about claiming seeing as I am in Jo'burg and will have no chance of success. :cursing:

Go to the JRA website - if i recall correctly, the forms are on the site.

If not, you can build your own case and put it to the JRA for reimbursement.

A former colleague was reimbursed for 2 tyres and 2 rims after his gti hit a pothole on oxford.

GOOD LUCK!

Glad you're okay, man

Carbon can always be replaced

One's body however is fragile

Perhaps so but covering a carbon bike with a duvet and putting it in front of the TV for a week does jack didly while it worked wonders for me.

So I was cruising through sea point this morning, hit a bump and thought a riding mate let one rip. Only then realised my seat was a little wobbly.

Snapped above the clamp, had carbon paste on shaft, torqued to correct torque. There is an inherent problem with the seat post as the lacquer chips off and then becomes too skinny and then slides down the whole time, in the process rubbing away some carbon.

Seat post has done 25 000km.

Are you saying it's all torque and no traction?

I claimed from the JRA in 2014 after smacking a pothole (with my car) in Bryanston and bursting a tyre. Just make sure to get all the docs/info/evidence they require. One of the things you'll need is a photo and the location of the pothole.

It required some admin and a heated phone call or two, but I was reimbursed for the expenses I had incurred for replacing the tyre.

Googling 'manhole pinch flat' or 'shaft damage' would probably lead you to this thread eventually but only after compromising your search history. The Hub heading into uncharted territory these days.
