BUT

If you are at a standing start with your 100% identically cloned sibling, and you are at a standing start when the lion set's off ... even from the rear 10deg angle that benefits your 29'er, your clone will accelerate faster off the mark leaving you as the "prey" to be caught ..... [emoji14]

BUT

If there is enough distance between the lion and the identical twin cyclists when they start then the rider on the 26er will spin out and the 29er will pull past him on longer effective gearing (due to wheel size) before the lion catches up.....

I will concede there is not much in it and in specific circumstances one or the other confers a slight advantage. But worldwide race results don't lie....

Sorry for the OT. I promise to stop now [emoji12] [emoji23]

If a lion was chasing you then you'd get further on a 29er than a 26er before you were caught and eaten.........same trail, same rider, same level of motivation

No, you would just have to be few seconds faster than your buddy on the 26er..

I bought a Reptilia Bib from Enjoy. Very uncomfortable. HOWEVER, in their defence it was my fault.

I bought a Small where I should have opted for a medium so it was my fault rather than theirs.

Damn annoying to waste so much money. I phoned them and asked them if they had a charity or something that I could donate the shorts to in exchange for a small discount on a larger pair but it was not to be. Oh well. In the bin they go.

Lesson learnt. Find out what your size is BEFORE you go hunting for riding gear  .

definitive proof I tell you. If the scientifically accurate Bicycling Magazine says so it MUST be true

The SA version of that publication is a Beacon of great journalism. Will fit right in with the SABC.

Actually, I'll rank Bicycling mag as one of my most disappointing buys. Every time I bought it. (yes, u am a sicker for punishment.)

Another disappointment was a Fulcrum wheelset. When I tacoed the front wheel in a freak-riding-into-a-hidden-ditch-in-the-dark-next-to-fairtrees-road incident, the local suppliers didn't have stock of any rims. Replaced it with a non boutique wheel, and eventually rebuilt the Fulcrum wheel with a Mavic rim.

Anything related to training, as opposed to riding over the last decade.

I have come to the happy conclusion that I enjoy riding my bike: before work in the cold; long, hard days in the mountains; off to the shops for a coffee; the odd event like Karoo2Coast,  94.7 on SS MTB with mates,  Argust with my sister-in-law at her pace.

Anything social, even if it is occasionally hard. But I hate following a plan that interferes with the social aspect of riding.

Therefore: my IDT, Power meter, HR Monitor, FTP test, Training plan and coach all invested in over the last three years are actually a waste of money.
