What is the biggest bike and/or bike gear buy mistake you have made?

Polar V650. Used a week. Edge 520 all the way. Big waste of money.

Polar is SUCH cr@p. Just last night I sent one to the landfill, it had taken up drawer space for years. Piece of junk.

Bib. Just don't like the straps. Love the roof rack post. Exactly why I wont buy one.

Makes two of us. There's no way I'll trust myself not to make that mistake. And I don't learn from my mistakes, either.

Let see how fox handle issues with their bibs ...i must say i am very disappointed in the quality of the product...even my first accent bib and shorts havent fallen apart yet and i use them the most [emoji57]

Last night i decided to get my gear ready for the morning...took out the least used bib (fox) to rub a bit of cream on the chamois as i do before ever ride...to find the foam was missing on one side ...it seems it has come loose and shifted [emoji15]

And it has nothing to do with machine washing them...i use the wash bags supplied with assos gear

Every Fox product seem t have this problem.  I have a set of baggies, that did the exact thing.  And the foam has shifted in such a way that it kills my privates.  So I thought of removing the foam insert as it is just a pain in the nuts

Fox kit eish, learnt that lesson early with Fox motocross gear falling apart.

GT Marathon i-drive frame bought secondhand on Bike Hub.

Frame cracked at the top tube headset area however as I bought it second hand there was no warranty option...

Sold the fox RP2.3 shock and frame ended up on one of those bakkies that cruise the neighborhood looking for garden waste and scrap metal

Rocky Mountain Element 999 Frame-despite doing lots of research and talking to the agent he convinced me I should be on a large frame. From the start I felt this was wrong but thought I would get used to it-I never did. Great Bike but the agent didnt know their stuff. Now it is  the Mrs bike that she "bought" from me, she seems happy-not sure with what: that she shafted me on the deal or that she really likes the bike.

Second mistake. Bought a Titan 26 er for R 4000. Salesman told me 29ers are crap and would never take off. Few months later a slower friend bought a 29er and I could not keep up. Spent over R8000 on wheels and other upgrades to get it faster. Eventually sold it for R6000 after 2 years of suffering. R6000 school fee.

Jip, my biggest mistake as well. In 2012 the 26er fanboys on the hub convinced me that 29er is just a fad that will blow over, 26ers will improve your technical skills more than the 29er, 26ers are better value because 29ers are over-priced - I fell for all that rubbish advice...

At that time. the majority of 29ers were ****...
