Warren_G Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Can't believe it will only be my 2nd one. The first one I borrowed a road bike. I'd never even swung a leg over a roadie bike. Set the seat height and off I went. The wind was HOWLING!!! By the time I got to Smits my arse was so sore I couldn't sit on the saddle. But my legs were cramping so I couldn't stand & crank. Coming up Chappies was... Um... Challenging. Coming down chappies was no better coz of the wind. Suikerbossie was next level agony. My legs cramped so hard I thought my femur was going to break. This year I'm hoping for less butt painSounds all too familiar that reminds me I should probably start training bj horn 1

The Bull Shark Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 (edited) If you did not get cramps going up Bossie on your first Argus, you have not experienced the 'Argus' yet. Edited February 3, 2017 by Moridin Bloukrans, Wannabe, Smurfy and 1 other 4

Eating every 5km's is overkill! Edited February 3, 2017 by J∆kk∆ls L46 and Long Wheel Base 2
KidCharlemagne Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 You better start adding as many angry faces as you can. A sub 3 from 1J is about as likely as you shagging Charlize Theron. (which will be quite nice but is as likely as you standing on a street corner and getting bitten by a shark) Possible, But not probable. I can't recall a sub 3 ever being done from the 10th seeded group. Excluding elites and vets and tandems as start groups.

Eating every 5km's is overkill! I usually do one every 10km. I like their convenient little biodegradable wrappers and they seem to do the trick in terms of energy for me. Maybe you are right one every 5 is probably too much. Edited February 3, 2017 by Duane_Bosch J∆kk∆ls 1

Eugene Oppelt Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 I might use a saddle scrotum this year for my tools and goeters... My first Argie on clinchers I think
Belgian biker Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 But the Argus is different. Every year I get properly excited. Every time I get goosebumps in the starting chutes. Every climb up Chappies has me grinning. Every year I get a thrill from the crowd up Wynberg Hill. Every time I wait in anticipation for the cool patch at Misty Cliffs. I know the route so well, I can even tell you where the glass splinters on the left edge will be. Still it feels fantastically new every year! This post gave me butterflies in my stomach, can't wait to be there! DJR and Geronimo 2

I will do a 3'05 and just get seeded in 1J again next year. There's strong okes in every bunch, I just need 5 to join me up front and we'll have a blast! Nibali 1

But I doubt he will be able to stick with the group past Smits, let alone make a break up Chappies to get a sub 3.
