What are the chances to ask admin to have a seperate thread for all the security tips, but limit the access to this thread to people who have ex more than 50 posts to their name.  So that the scammers do not see the tips.

This should be easy to set up. I'll take a look first thing tomorrow and post details here.

I have said before.

If a buyer is in a hurry and want to do the deal quick-quick,

tell them to wait till your are satisfied,  or to f@<k-#ff.

I am outside SA and have bought from Hubbers and online shopes in SA.

Even thought I send a proof of payment.

I always give the seller time, sometimes days, to be happy that the money is in their accounts.

Heck, they can easily take my money and run.

But the Hub is good.

Absolute genius, except why should I be excluded with my meagre 48 posts BUT I have 8 positive marketplace feedbacks against your ZERO? Feedback score is a way better (in fact, it is the ONLY one) indicator of a hubber's trustworthiness than his number of posts.

Agreed. For this to work even better we need to USE it and promote and advocate the use of it.

But that only works for people who regularly trade. There are some people on here who have spent years investing time and becoming part of the community, who have not traded much, if at all. It's also far easier to track through their historical posts on their profile to get a sense of the people they are. VERY few scammers will invest the time trying to build up a TRUSTED persona here, hence the post count having relevance!

I'm reminded of a you magazine, some sweets & a couple of other things which were "shipped in error" a while ago. By a "trusted hubber"

Also - Wayne's 3d printer. POOF.

Some people are just scheisters.

50 was just a thumbsuck number.  I did not take into consideration marketplace feedbacks.  I gathered in 50 posts it would be easy to realise if some is really into cycling or not and is actually interrested in buying.  I leave it to admin to make the descision on what criteria would be best.

Like me.  Have never traded on here.  The highlighted part was my thinking.

Absolutely MM, it's not foolproof. We're still gonna be surprised by people in the community who for whatever reason\personal crisis lose their sense of right or wrong and have a tonsil moment that impacts someone else and collectively affects our sense of good faith. BUT, the exposure to that is very little in comparison to having absolute noobs and whatever their agendas are. And to make it clear, their should not be a barrier to entry. BRAND new members must be able to participate. There should however be an area for the established community to share and discuss deal options\security tips et al, that will not be accessed by some random on the internet who can see what is being discussed.

Would also be good to post the hub name the scammer used to contact you somewhere (maybe this new tips thread). I found that accounts that are 5min old, and want to buy my 'product' is an alert!

A thread as proposed by Bataleur1, is a good idea to highlight ways to avoid scamsters. The thing is, you would not need to be included. You have 8 positive feedbacks, which says you can be trusted. The feeback system is great - but as Iwan Kemp says, we need to advocate more of its use. It needs to be more used by all members.

I will be putting some things up for sale soon. I have no feedback. The only way people will be able to judge is through the posting history. Ok maybe.

make it mandatory,

when an ad expires or closes, "send" "request" a feedback form, yes more admin, but the fact that it sends/mails/popsup on my screen is far better than having to go into the users profile and adding feedback!

think eBay and AliExpress

yes, the actual transaction(payment part) is not done on thehub itself, but we(user) still administer(user)
