I don't hate "all road cyclist", just the ones who dress in stealth, and don't obey the road rules and then curse other road users when they can't be seen.

Banning cars would be a great idea, cause then there would be no roads and we would all be Mountain bikers

Thats my problem, I'm tired of reading about cycling deaths on Monday morning and the family they leave behind.

So you frequently read about cycling deaths on Monday morning and these deaths are as a result of the cyclists jumping traffic lights while wearing black clothes? Do I have this straight? Could you supply an example?

All stealth at 3pm doesn't seem like an issue at all. At 3am then yes but that is his stupidy and will get what's coming to him.

 

All road users should obey the rules of the road as they are there for the safety of all but we cannot police them all and at some point have to accept that they are out of your control and will eventually get what's coming their way. It's a karma thing.

 

It's like taxis, we all see them braking the rules but you realize that your rants and outbursts to them amount to nothing but your own frustration and sometimes unintended violence on their behalf so you accept and move on with your life.

The said ninjas are not only a danger to themselves but to other road users too. I've seen an accident where the ninja's dead body came to rest on the drivers of the vehicle's lap, instantly killing the driver as well. The road ninja was doing an early morning(5am) ride in his "camo" gear with no lights whatsoever.

Yes, I know I'm opening myself up for a lot of abuse from the roadie comunity , but stop and think about it!!! While riding on the road, a place where you are the smallest vehicle, the path of least Resistance, almost insignificant when it comes to other road uses, the last thing you should be doing is dress like a Ninja!

It's funny, but the riders who dress in sheath also seem to be the ones who disobey the road rules; don't stop at red lights, ride two a breast, don't use hand signals.

The Muppet I saw ridding north on Ceder road at 3pm today, was wearing black Specialized top riding a matt black Specialized bike jumped two traffic lights in 2km. When I hooted at him as he went through the second traffic light he didn't flinch... Cause he was also wearing headphones!!!!

While I am ranting, I would also like to address the "what are the rules" ranters.... Who has right of way:

People playing touch rugby on the William Nicol or the Cars?

People playing soccer on Rivonia or the taxi's?

Formula 1 cars on Sandton drive or the traffic?

If you think about it in that context, Sports cyclists, like the above menssioned Sports should have no place on the road (even if they are wearing neon shirts and have lights on their bikes) Unless its a closed road event like 947, Commrads Marathon, or Sandton Grand Prix.

Commuters get the idea... Make yourself as visible as possible, ride in single file, stop at red lights, always look out for cars (cause they don't look out for you).

You need to remember that if your in an accident, it doesn't matter 'who was in the right', you will always come off second best.

YOU are the path of least resistance.
