Tough race. Got there late, started back of the group . Managed to get to the front about 13k in and then as we were cresting a climb at 18.4 km I dropped my chain and got it properly wedged. Lost about 12/15min with groups flying past me as I was stuck yanking on my chain trying to get it out. Saw the 2 groups from behind me come past as well. Was about to jack it in as I didn't want to break my bike (had already pulled of the metal chain guard protecter thing on the frame) when it came free.

Got back on the bike full of grease and chased down some of the groups but burnt so many matches riding alone untill the 70km mark when a very welcome decent size group came past me. Rode with them home. And was disappointed in a 3h20... Another race another lesson learnt .

But we live to fight another day .

Here was my PLAN vs ACTUAL for today. Satisfied, but now I am moeg.

My goal was simple - pull as many of my club mates to the finish line in less than 3 hours. I would never be doing a PB (2:40:53) with the following lead up to today. I didn't expect to spend most of the time on the front but it turned out to be a rather enjoyable day.

Unlucky bud, really *** when something happens in a race. But still a respectable time, well done for pushing on.
