Stop hating on other brands or people and just ride your bike.  Any bike! As long as riding that bike makes you happy!

Ja, absolutely.

Seeing that "we" are rabbit trailing, here goes: I met a guy on the trails the other day. He was riding some super-duper Specialized (S-Works) with a RS1 fork (he reckons bike costs R145K). He was fully kitted out in Spcialized gear, head to toe. I was taking a break, drinking some water. He stopped and introduced himself. We chatted for a few minutes. He then asked, to my utter surprise, if I would mind if he could ride with me. I said sure. So off we went, the fully kitted Specialized rider and the disheveled STR single speeder wannabe.

This oke kicked my arse big time. I had a hell of a time keeping up, but I did manage, for about 20 minutes or so. Then I just decided fark it, and stopped for a drink/rest. Five minutes later the oke returned. Said he saw I was "gone" and just wanted to come and check if I was OK.

So yes, some okes on Specialized/Giant/Momsen/Scott/Etc. etc. bikes are boxes, others not so much.

Have fun, ride on.

Most relevant formula for a cyclist:

N+1≤S-1

It also relates to:

Happy Wife=Happy Life

N+1 is about as important as rule 5....

My wife doesn't recognize new bikes... mostly.... :)

It always amazes me that in most threads someone will post something negative about a Spaz rider with a Spaz kit and maybe compare them with a BMW driver.

If someone not riding a Specialized is being a box then he is just a box and everybody goes on with life, but please do not be a box when riding a Specialized because then you are that guy being a box because he is riding a Specialized.  Having some of their kit on will automatically make you an even bigger box.  You guys are just ridiculous!!

Love how this thread morphed into the "I hate Spaz thread" - experienced a guy who fit the stereotype perfectly this weekend at a stage race.

Was proclaiming loudly during lunch how his 200k Spaz was an amazing "precision machine" (are they already that expensive? - if they are I don't blame him for sharing the price out loud with everybody...  ), how he kicked butt today on his "precision machine" (if he actually posted an impressive time it would have even been more impressive) and then joking about the poor sucker that bought his previous bike, a Giant because Giants are so much slower than Spaz. (my Giant and quite a number of other less glamorous brands were faster than his precision machine on the day but maybe we should go for best out of 3?)

PS to the spez lovers - Don't worry, I don't think this oke is representative of your brand, 99% of you are perfectly decent human beings, but there is always that one guy that fits the stereotype...

End of the day we might classify someone as something but in that person's mind he is a perfectly normal and lekker person. We all have/do something that irritates someone else but in our mind is perfectly ok.

So we must not judge. Respect other people's views even when you don't agree with them. That is the single biggest problem we have in the world today.....we don't respect other people and their views. And when you meet someone and don't agree with their views move on because you are only going to upset yourself.

Edit....Not sure if I posted in the correct thread.....but still valid

I honestly don't care who rides what, lol.... What I do find fascinating is that other people care what I ride. Since I went single speed, the deluge of comments from riding friends have been very interesting to say the least. I just shrug and ride on. Whatever makes your boat float. As long as you're enjoying it.
