That was crap! 30mins of hell! The first 10km was crazy gutters.

Managed to hang on till Hekpoort, then rode home pretty much solo all the way. Decided to use it as a training ride.

So much wind, fokkit. NP 260w for 3h20 ouch!

Terrible terrible day for me, stomach gave me advance notice at 4:30am, I was stubborn - ignored it. Second warning 30min before start - ignored it. 15km into race had to call it quits and head back [emoji22]

Result: DNF and not even a training ride to show for it [emoji37] only the second race ever that I've DNF'd

Yeah, I specifically didn't latch onto any passing bunches. Hopped onto some VC wheels for about 5km around the 100km mark. Wanted to use it as training ride.

Hoped that it would be better after the R4V, but I guess not.

The rain didn't bother me too much but the wind I'm getting gatvol of.

Anyways, more lessons learnt. Races should be on Saturdays it seems and I need a lot of training.

Thanks to the organisers, I still had fun.

Interesting day out and character building, actually enjoyed it.  Started at the back of BL, missed the initial break, was in the 2nd group with 4 of us managing to get away over hekport hill, we worked hard to try to catch the front, picked up and past a few of the drop-offs from the initial break.

That wind on the turn with 30kms to go was brutal, felt strong to the end and home in 3hr 50.

Apart from my garmin stopped recording after 90mins was glad to just get in before the heavy rains came!!

Two windy races in a row. Seriously gatvol. Late decision to change from VA to tandem. Not too many tandems so just went for it and rode the whole race solo for the win. But flip it was tough. Got off the bike and was frozen. Next one satellite. Hope the weather is favourable.

Before we have a hub-storm . . .

I started in AL  , and puncture on the turn to Maropeng. Back tire 2 cm tear so patched with what I had and rode back to start. i changed wheels and decided to do a training ride out and back on the n14 road ( why waist a day of training as my racing were over)

Rode all the way to Rawsons water station and back but at that stage a few vb,vc,$ riders were together and i grabbed wheel .

Yes i did go over the  racetech mat and realized my mistake , I immediately gave my race number to Racetech. . They advised they will do a DNS.

I see my time for my 82km training ride at 3;06 as AL winning time  . . . OOPS !!!

I will contact Race tech in the morning at request to remove my time.

Apologies to the all riders especially  AL riders that did complete  !

Ha ha! So I can tell my team mate he "really" won AL. I'm sure he'll understand.

cold front sweeping across the country with snow in many of the high lying area's.

Some lekker coffee and a good recovery session... Feet up, @$$ on the couch

You had the right idea - it was really miserable out there, even worse than R4V from last week.  Us tail enders suffer a lot longer.
