Anyone using moto-X gloves for mtb??

While picking up some oil at a local Yamaha today I noticed some Fox gloves which looked pretty decent (as mtb gloves ) for R199 no special or anything just R199.

 

Now this is quite a lot cheaper than most Quality (I mean serias quality ) mtb gloves , I mainly ride scott and specialized gloves as they are the most comfortable and hardwearing gloves i.m.e.

 

So anyone actually using motorcycle gloves on their mtb rides ? How do they compare ? and they comfortable? and so on and so on.

 

Right now I pay around R500 for a set of gloves that last me between 4-6 months depending on crashes ect. so If i can have anything for a little cheaper or same price that is better quality or more hardwearing that would be great.

 

 

 

 

 

They main reason i ask this is that logic tells me A Moto_x glove will be tougher than any mtb glove 24/7.

MX gloves just don't have the soft part on the thumb to wipe your sweat or nose! Other than that nothing really... You may find that they have extra rubber on top of the fingers but you get lightweight ones that don't. I had a pair of Alpinestars ones as well as Thor ones. Last long and are relatively cheap. Just like socks, you don't need cycling specific everything! 

 

I have even Petzl leather rappel gloves for winter <3

The cycling specific ones now or the MX ones Ive used in the passed?

Fox MX Jersey = R499

Fox Downhill/Enduro Jersey = R799

 

I'm not even kidding. Its exactly the same thing.

I've been using Fox Rockstar mx gloves for a long time and they still in one piece. The velcro part doesn't work so good anymore but that's after almost 4 years. And yes they were much cheaper than 'mtb cycling' gloves. Worth it

Full throttle has been known to have mx gloves for R50 - R99

I've been using Answer, Fox, Alpinestar, Fly Racing and the best I ever had was Thor gloves. Will never buy MTB specific. Last pair I bought was Fly gloves - R350.

Unfortunately they are incompatible.

 

MX bars and MTB bars have a different diameter/wall thickness so when closing your hand around MTB bars the MX gloves will not grip properly and will therefore be unsafe as they were designed for MX bars

I use Fox Dirtpaw gloves and ESI Extra Chunky grips. They are actually pretty compatible. Works great.

Bollocks. Been rolling with various mx gloves for five years. They work exactly the same at a far more reasonable price.

Great value and excellent protection.

I alsO like them as they usually have nice thin palms, not the bloody gel lazy boy puffy stubby irritating gel inserts

 

Fox are ok, but the fly racing gloves have worked best for me. .....the only reason I have ever replaced them have been down to me losing one of the pair.
