Not a climbers course at all, from what i read.

Nope

It's hilly though

I'm going it will level the time trailing field somewhat for the maglia Rosa ????

Some stats while the PROs rest

Before the Giro began, we noted that between 2011 and 2015, Giacomo Nizzolo (Trek-Segafredo) finished inside the top 5 on a remarkable 21 stages of the Giro, all without winning one. And that included nine second-place finishes, four alone in 2014. Unfortunately for the 28-year-old, his streak has continued so far this Giro.

The Italian champion was fourth on the opening stage and third on stage 3 (from the Gaviria wind-shaped escape group), giving him 23 Giro top-fives without a win.

Quintana a wheel sucker? Really? Which wheel is he sitting on?

He hasn't been doing too much of that in the race so far. The chirps come from his 2016Tour.

I don't think anybody in this race can actually put him the red when it gets steep.

Maybe Gee and Yates will tow him if they go for some stage wins.

I think Quintana was hoping for more time yesterday and Dumoulin and Pinot surprised him, if he was going as hard as he could, then I think some of the others are going to feel a bit more hopeful.

Theres a lot of climbing in this Giro so I think he could probably get sufficient time to win overall even if he loses a chunk in the ITT, but if Dumoulin, Pinot, Mollema and company carry on climbing like they did I dont think he will feel too comfortable, they were breathing down his neck very easily.

Yeah 100%

I think he would have expected to see Nibali closer but not the 2 strongest TT GC riders. With over 60km of TT riding left in this race it adds up to way more than the hilltop finish climbs.

I think he is going to be stretched more than he would want to be in that final week.

I hope both Pinot and Tommy have a perfect day today...then it's race on!!

Also hope Thomas goes very fast today..Would be good if he kept at it to see where he ends up as a GC rider

Sunday all the children at home for mothers day.

I'm watching stage nine with my three year old grandson.

Oupa , ry jy ook op die pad?

Oupa, is jou boude ook so op ?

Oupa, ry jy ook saam jou best friends ?

Its difficult to attack when all the GC contenders are getting dropped by the Sky domestiques. I think he did the best he could.

You hitting the nail on the head!!

Many people talk about the wheel suckin g but it is not in his nature at all.He is a very aggressive mountain climber but he can only be aggressive when it suits his attributes. As a small climber he would hate high tempo riding and most of the TDF gradients are more high tempo type of climbing. He has been much more aggressive in the Giro and Vuelta.

He knows he only has 1 big weapon..not like Dumoulin and Froome and he needs to get maximum out of it when he has the opportunity.

I think small GC climbers are going to find things very difficult in the new power based riding world..lots of riders starting to measure their effort on the climbs rather than follow and blow up.Follow and blow up is what the Quintana type of rider wants.

Now he has to work really hard for 20 second and then guys like Dumoulin can take 2 minutes in a TT.

That's why we are seeing more and more guys like Jungels enter the GC world.

Very good comment. This is why I can't understand why he and the likes of Alberto attack more and earlier on a climb. Team Sky and the riders you mentioned are happy with a climb at a high, constant pace but the moment you hit them with fast and furious attacks, they blow up.

A case in point is how Andy and Frank attack in tandem in the 2011 TDF- I think it was the final Mountain stage before the ITT where Andy lost yellow to Cadel.

I know I'm pro-Schleck, but that was probably the best tactical race I've seen. So much better than this boring high tempo racing up the mountains.

Unfortunately I missed Sunday's race due to a power failure.
