New to indoor trainer advice

The big benefit for me so far is, due to time constraints and work commitments, I've gone from maybe 2-3 rides per month to between 30-60min a day on the IDT late at night. My endurance on the road may not be that good, but it's certainly more training than I was getting! We'll see how long I can stick to the training schedule though, so far I haven't found boredom creeping in. (I have been exclusively on zwift thus far though)

Welcome to the training with power. It's hard/painful but oh the rewards are great when your riding buddies suddenly comment they can see the difference... because you keep on dropping them ????

PS, TeainerRoad has a nice weekly podcast, search for (TrainerRoad) it via iTunes or on SoundCloud,

Early morning training for me too.

I used power based training to get me ready for 3 towers basically in 3 weeks.

From riding only on weekends and almost dying from doing 50km with 400m of ascent. To comfortably finishing each day of 3towers and feeling fresh each morning of the race.

Get into it, you will be amazed at the gains.

The new generation 2 unit will be in available in the next 2 weeks, these people probably selling their gen #1's to buy the new model.

I also find it very strange......??

That makes sense thanks, i thought it just shows the "hatred" towards the poor IDT's....

Urgh, woke up at 04:30 to do sprint session on trainer, just before first sprint I flatted my rear tyre, must be the only person to get a flat on a trainer.

Lesson learnt, even Continental inner tubes become unreliable when they are 25 years old.

Nah.

I'm playing with the same idea... I just don't have money to fill the gap between what I'd get for my Gen 1, which is 6 months old and the new Gen 2, and justify the cost to myself.

I had about 3 flats on the spinner and THAT is just frustrating...needs lots of motivation to get onto the thing and then BOOM flat....you guess right i just called it the day!

wink wink, will remember, always propose you upgrade to aWahoo Kickr Gen 1 ;)

it's an amazing unit in combination with something like TR or Today's Plan.

Only reason I did not go Today's Plan when I started is their non support of iOS devices, which TrainerRoad does (pretty much their primary platform).

ye ye... but outside cost me more time... which has a cost for me.

This way I can (when I'm not lazy like atm, no motivation in the mornings) to get up at 3:55, on Trainer at 04:00-05:00, shower and out of the house by 05:20.

As quality training time.

And then ride socially with wife and friends over the weekend.
