Which bike computer? - Another noob comparison request!

So the inevitable collection of every conceivable accessory is well under way. The next purchase after my indoor trainer is a computer/gps head unit and associated paraphernalia.

I was dead set on the Garmin 520 bundle, HR sensor and speed/cadence included seemed like a bargain. The problem is, I have been impressed by the wahoo products and started to look at the wahoo elemnt. Now the capabilities of the wahoo seem to be just short of the Garmin edge 1000 with the exception of touch screen and colour screen. Also the wahoo products Bluetooth capability would allow me to sync to my iPhone when doing off the bike stuff (like running, etc).

My current budget could allow for either one.

Garmin edge 520 via momentum multiply is R5700 (without delivery)

Wahoo elemnt + speed/cadence + tickr X is R6000 via cyclelab after momentum and club discount.

What do you guys use, what would you recommend and why?

Thanks again for entertaining my growing collection of all things bike related!

If you on Discovery Vitality will be better to get the Garmin... and a Garmin is fit and forget, does what it says on the box and works.

I have the 520, does all that I need and more

On ProfMed, so momentum only. For "active days" (or whatever it's called) I can can even log through strava, so could use any platform. How is the bundled HRM on the Garmin?

Import a Garmin Edge 1000 bundle from Evans Cycles in the UK. They send the unit via DHL Express free of charge so it only took a few days to get here. Mine cost me R6500.00, which includes the VAT and DHL customs clearance fee, delivered to my door.

They have the 520 and 820 if you'd prefer.

Sounds like an excellent deal. The 520 here gets close to that price.

This may seem like an odd question - but why do you want a GPS unit?

Are you planning on using it to tell you where to go ? Or where you have been ?

Both, some of the stage races require a GPS so that you can download the route in the event of missing markers. It's nice to build a database of where you have ridden, and the elevation plot is awesome.
