Why even post this here or FB - just go to SAPS and they will get the guy.

If you leave the scene of an accident you are in big doo-doo!

Another story if car is stolen but not every car on the road is stolen.

the problem in cape town is cars have no addresses attached to them so you can report it but they never find the guy  (assuming the cars still registered at all or insured etc)

as you have no doubt noticed the traffic dept here dropped that great plan of sending you a licence  renewel form to your address to check that you still live there in favour of just letting you turn up with your old disk and pay them (its only about getting money) :whistling:

so if you want to justice you have to find them yourself because saps/traffic wont

Soooo, if I understand you correctly .... I can't buy a cellphone (or sim for a cellphone) without proving my address but I can buy a car so the police won't be able to track me on my car?

Wow

Except that you need to have POA when you renew your license or register a new vehicle...

BTW there is new law requiring proof of residence when renewing vehicle licenses: http://mybroadband.co.za/news/motoring/143152-warning-take-proof-of-address-when-renewing-your-car-licence.html

seriously get hit by a car on your uninsured commuter bike and go to the police with the reg of the car then go home and wait ...................(you get the picture)

and the POA thing has only been in effect for about 6 months and its laughable they will accept anything even a photocopy of an envelope

vehicles traced after accidents aren't usually traced by saps they are found by the plaintiffs insurer because the insurance company want their money back :whistling:

Turbo, is that your rig that got mangled dude? (Don't have vleisboek so can't check the link....)

According to vleisboek, the person that was hit is "Kayden Kleinhans". I don't know if that is LeTurbo or not.

Hell, you guys have a lot of confidence in SAPS, expecting them to waste their valuable time on investigating a Hit & Run involving a cyclist.

And no, I'm not being sarcastic......

I think there was another thread about this recently?

Last month I renewed the licences (at Post office) on two vehicles and a trailer, never asked for proof of residence for any of them.

My folks went to another post office in the same area and they insisted on proof of residence....go figure!!

from the pic the cyclist is lying in the middle of the lane the bmw is passing over the white line.

so then

cyclist was either hit from behind or the bmw driver tried to over take him and (a) knocked him while passing (b) overtook on the solid white line and cut infront of the cyclist and hitting him then © ?

either way, leaving the scene of an accident should see (In an ideal world) the person accepting guilt by fleeing and should be locked up when found....those are my feelings at least.
