No matter what the epic remains one of the hardest races.

(but I could be incorrect on the relationship between the organisers and the health structures)
Tatt Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Was on top of Shaws Pass today - lots of riders were suffering. Medics eventually arrived and stationed themselves there. They should have had another water point at Shaws, a lot of riders made the mistake of not taking extra hydration, hoping that one or two bottles would be ok!!! Tom

People hanging into pockets up Rotary already. 10am and it was already 32 degrees. Don't think there was a single rider who felt cheated by this morning's decision. LeoKnight Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 I assume there a number of solo riders now, where one of the partners had a medical, and now have to decide if they doing the rest on their own. Would be interesting how you prepare for that, do you then link with other riders, or just try and enjoy the rest of the race gaining experience?

So I ended up riding a lot slower than I expected.. Tom

Not only do you need to be honest and aware of your own strengths and limitations, but also that of your partner and then conclude the best approach for the sum of the parts to be greater than the individuals (if possible) Be that the one pushing / riding in front / showing the line on single track / gunning for the water point breaks / etc
