Have you achieved what you wanted to this year?

Only a few weeks to go now . . . .

On or off the bike, did you achieve one or more of your goals for the year?

I've ticked quite a few off my list but there are a some that will have to slip into next year. It's funny how as you get older the "next year will do" idea becomes easier to live with. It comes around so quickly nowadays. When I was a kid I couldn't think of waiting for things for a week or two!

I'm pretty happy with this year, certainly better than 2015 for various reasons including cycling...so yes, I've achieved what I wanted.

We all want better/more but I look at what I've accomplished not what I haven't done.

Its been a good year in many ways but a terrible year in terms of fitness and running/cycling.

Im almost done with the distractions though so next year should be a whole lot better for that.

In terms of cycling, yes. Did a couple of new races including berg&bush & one in Swaziland. Goal for next year is to do a tour of 4-5 days instead of another stage race. Ok maybe both, will see how it goes..

Nope

Had so many aspirations. To the contrary, everything went pear-shaped

Better luck next year.

Thanks. I "only" need more me-time. Need to put my foot down and commit more time to training (I am the fattest I have been my whole life thanks to little training and poor eating...)

And then do some amazing races. Were planning to do some this year, but life sucked me dry

No. No. Yes. 2016 has yielded nothing I intended but the first year in my new home. Even that has been tainted by distance from "the crew". I miss my old hood. This year taught me that crew gets more important as time goes on. I've lived all over and not had issues. This year, 2016... Ja no.

On the work front, the goal was always to survive the year and finish articles. Now I am just a few weeks out from qualifying as a CA. So thats a positive on this front.

On the bike however, the year did not live up to expectations. Article clerk life got in the way far too often and prevented real gains, but 2017 is a new year and brings new opportunities...this time in Belgium :3

i guess over the last year or two, deciding to put in the training to achieve better things has made a big difference to the year but i find that after say the 947, possibly even after 3 Towers, motivation dips, trainer rides become once maybe twice a week if i'm lucky, until the Strava Festive 500 last week of the year, where 500km in a week isn't that bad.

Start the new year with legs that feel like stuffed sausages (2-3 weeks around East London in the wind will do this...) when getting back to jhb, and then trying to be better than the year before.

Overall i'm pretty chuffed with the year, results show that the efforts pay off.
