I had this dilemma a while back myself but found a straight fork in the end.

This may be a stupid question but does the "external headset adapter" not raise the front end of the bike?

He has to measure his head tube to make sure this is an option. Last I checked it only worked on 44mm straight head tubes. Not all straight head tubes are compatible.

Smaller than 44mm diameter wont work no.  A 34mm diameter wont work.

But you get them in different sizes.

44mm, 49mm (old cannondale) 54mm (some scotts) etc.

Measure top and bottom and order the correct cups :D

I did my time....

lets just say, I have reached the limits of my rigid riding ability...

At the price of rigid forks these days, If i'm paying that amount.. it 's gonna be for something that's farking comfortable...

I recently sold a perfectly good Fox 100mm with a straight steerer for R3k.

I've sent the guy a message as I know he specifically asked whether it can be run in a tapered headtube, and I supplied him with the required crown race.

Maybe he'll trade.

These aren't as uncommon as you think, people just don't know they've got them, think mine came off a 2013 Giant XTC Advanced 1 stock standard. I never knew it was straight..

I have a white RS Reba, 120mm travel, straight steerer, 20mm thru-axle with maybe 10 hours on it, would be looking at around R4500 for it (Including front wheel, DT Swis 485D with Wheeltech hub). I still have the original box and manuals.
