Bliksem! You must be a bit daft or desperate to leave it late if you wanted to do this race.

Early entry fee for PPA members was R160

Sorry to hear it - hope she's OK.

Ah the sacrifices we make for the little ones. I remember feeling like my life completely got put on hold in the early years.

These days I chase after teenager who needs me only for cash, transport and to be proud of achievements. It's a treat when I get asked for advice!

Not to worry Mr Savage - we'll keep the roads warm for you.

The Mrs is back in hospital for 4 bags of blood, so have been single parenting this week, no rides for me. Been jealously looking at all the cyclists I drove past in the morning!

  :(

Not interested in this race at all, I'm not that daft or desperate to even pay the original price of R160.00 to go ride routes I train on for free.

I was reading the latest PPA blurb, and saw the late entry fees there.

Question, which realistic route would there be in the Western Cape that would make a killer 110km route?

One I think might be interesting if not logistically challenging, a route from Gordonsbay, to Kleinmond, over Sir Lowry back to Gordonsbay.

lol

Goes without saying ;-)  Just thinking the roadies keep on asking for more road races so curious if they could suggest a route which are the ones that would rank at the top (after the big one of course)

Not everyone is in the position to enter a race that takes place end of feb at the beginning of Jan, i for one would only now by the start of a month how my shifts for the month looks like, so  i have  pay late entry which is crazy high for this race

Unfortunately we are a bit restricted to possible routes in our neck of the woods. All possible versions has been tried at some point or the other.

A nice little race that died a quiet death was the Medallion that started and finished at Techno Park in Stellenbosch.

edit = If the gravel section at the foot of Malanshoogte can be tarred, it will open up a few more options.

sort of my thinking, there are only so many hills that you can climb out, but maybe one or two of the races they can do in reverse, just to spice things up

That would be a lekker ride.

For me doing training rides and races are completely different things, even if it is on the same road, so I am happy to pay to race. (Although admittedly doing variations of the same D'ville loop week after week is getting a bit tiresome)

But if your training rides are as hectic as races maybe I should rather join your training rides

Nice little route

Start in Stellenbosch - over Hells Hoogte past Pniel, turn right to Franschoek and head towards Franschoek Pass, over the pass to the dam and then back again to Stellenbosch on the same route.

Nice views with a few climbs.
