2017 Vuelta a España

I agree, I am worried about Saturday

He is hauling 10kg more up 25% grades. Just the physics of that compared to a 7% makes it astonishing he is anywhere close. (The only reason I couldn't keep up is cos of my extra 12kg on top of that... True's Bob)

Us fans will never know whether Froome Dawg was conserving.

I have seen him play dead before and then smash his rivals the next day.

He knows how to play the long game.

One for Alalphillippe and the other puncheurs in a breakaway, for sure.

I really think he was struggling, he battled to stay on Nieve 's wheel on the sections that evened out..he had a tough day.. not much a team mate can do to help you on those sections where it kicks.. but ja he battled... Nieve is super strong though..yoh.

No ways he would lose that much time through conserving with the tough stages still to come.. the Shark smells blood..today he will test him again.. there is a lekker downhill before the last climb.. Sky will have their hands full again..

If Trek and Astana should form an alliance ..they are all in for a hard time...both Bert and Lopez are chasing podium. ... it could get roff

Astana "forgot" to put the 36 chainring for Aru yesterday. "If they want me to abandon, they should say it." [emoji91][emoji91] (via @Gazzetta_it )

People are human, they have bad days... even Froome does.  He said post stage that he put a lot into the TT and it took it out of him yesterday.

Tactically, could well have been the right thing to do, knowing that he would loose time yesterday as he not so great on the steeper stuff....go balls to the wall on the TT and gain extra time and limit the losses yesterday rather than be conservative on the TT and have a smaller time gap.

A game of chess maybe and looking at the end game rather than the individual stages of what is needed to be done.

I wouldn't say he had a bad day ..he struggled and lost time on a a climb that doesn't suit him... I just think he lost more time than what he thought he would.

And with Saturday fast approaching with another very steep but twice as long climb waiting.. he'll have his hands full the next few days..he will have to try get more time before Saturday. .just for in case.

The Shark of Messina is smelling blood in the water.

Hope Berto gets a stage win too.

He is always superb in week 3.

At least the frailties of Froome prove he's not able to peak 365 like some other riders and gives a slight glimmer of hope for the future of the sport. However naive that notion of mine is.

Today's stage don't offer much to riders in gaining time on their rivals. The last climb is not tough enough. I guess today is one where Bardet will go for it on the last downhill. And the GC riders won't bother about him since he too far down GC.

I don't think he was bluffing or conserving. Froome is definitely the best in the business but this is not the first time he's lost time on a steepish climb. I wouldn't be surprised to see him try and put some more time into his rivals before Saturday because I think he knows he will lose time again up the angliru.

What this man said!

Nobody would intentionally bluff and lose 40s of their 1:50 lead.

What douche. Typical of Aru to blame everybody else but himself. Mommys boy.

The last 2.2km of the climb is 9%...wouldn't call that easy...and after yesterday's stage those legs may feel it today..eina.

Now if Alaphillipe wasn't in yesterday's break I would say he would fancy today's stage..hope he was able to recover for today...

Ha and we haven't seen de Gent in the break for a few days..suppose it is time again ...probably Trentin too
