This was always a good party trick...listen to long stories in the pub...wait till the GV was finished his story...then ask him he had ever seen one of these...if not you knew his story was bullshyte.

just because one psych was crap, don't discount the entire pursuit. Oftentimes it's about finding the right psych for you. They can help TREMENDOUSLY, if you find the right one.

why it was a waste of time...the shrink said there was nothing wrong with me.

i dont have a drug...drinking or smoking addiction anymore...even off fizzy drinks and now just the coffee and eating requires attention...there are enough shrinks here to fix anything ;)

With all due respect.......it reads like another car crash waiting to happen.

You are going to maintain this for a couple of days (if that) then eat everything is sight because you'll be hungry.

You need to eat more, don't go hungry but improve the quality of your diet. Loads of salads and vegetables. No need to elaborate you know which are the healthy ones.

Buy a scale, weigh yourself, set targets, exercise (even if its walking). You're not the only one that is >50, busy, stressed etc. Some of us also like sugar, chocolate, meat, beer and more.

Good luck, nothing will change until you decide its time for change.

Im with you on this one Oom.

Eat more to lose weight. It is all about food choices. Proper food.

Ag what the hell. Let me say my say.

The way I see it. Weight loss is about a choice. Either you want to do it or you dont. There is no grey area.

I have read over and over on these weight loss threads that " I slipped up this weekend" Well then, so sorry to tell you, you are not serious about it. Nobody forces you to eat crap. You do it. I read excuse upon excuse why somebody got nowhere over a period of time. IT IS BECAUSE YOU ATE CRAP! Nobody forced you. Too many big words and complicated calculations flying around..It is about hard work and dedication and NO excuses. Either you want it or you dont. Look in the mirror and be honest with yourself.

Adding to Ooms post above.

I weighed in on Sunday (I weigh in every 30 days) 6kg lost in the last 30 days. Was it difficult? Not really. I ate more than enough and was NEVER hungry. It was all about food choices. And CRAP will not pass my lips at this stage of my life. I would rather eat sand that a pie or donut or whatever. It actually disgusts me.

Im in the zone at the moment, I flippen hope that it lasts.

(not so) Vetseun you are absolutely spot on !!

I used all the excuses as I went from 80 to 108kg ....

had a session with a dietitian, changed 1 or 2 items, but carried on with life .... and nothing much changed !!  Until February 2016, diagnosed with type 2 diabetes I had to get serious about what I eat.

This time I did NOT concentrate on "what not to eat", instead I spent multiple sessions at the dietitian, and got a LONG list of healthy food options

I certainly eat enough.  Losing weight is NOT about going hungry.

Down to 85kg.  Now at 87kg, will have another body fat measurement done (last one came in at 17%) - to check if I picked up weight (fat) or some muscle mass due to the regular exercise...

OK, I'll call your bluff. Assuming there's nothing psychological derailing your eating habits, what in your opinion is the root cause, of your yo-yoing?

101.7 kg today

gave it a good push last night on the trainer...plenty of energy available.

coffee not tasting that bad today with 1 sugar...tomorrow cut sugar completely.

3 weeks off the sleeping tablets...and managing to sleep better.

not starving during the day but just battling to finish the quantity of food i am required to eat for dinner .

loving the fact that i can have my 1 slice of toast with peanut butter in the afternoon after work.

just hang in there !!

It takes a while for it to become a "lifestyle", rather than a "diet" ....

diets have end dates ....

it needs to be a lifestyle to stop the yo-yo.

Agreed , I have done the long haul of turning eating habits for weight lose into a way of life and as CF said it then stops the yo yo effect . My wife is diabetic and we have decided to eat meat (small portions on alternate days ) When i started cycling again  at age 30 i ate vegetarian for 18 months and lost all the weight i needed to . I then simply added in meat when i had the urge . The way you eat is a mind set only you can control .

i love the taste of sugar :)

my eating disorder got out of hand when i gave up smoking many years ago...after smoking anything that could burn...through anything that could hold water or milk or just a plain old piece of newspaper...my taste buds went nuts when they realized how good shyte tasted.

it would become a multi billion rand industry if every sugar addict went to a shrink for help.
