2. Go on to youtube and look up Fabien Barel flat corners. He's a 2x DH world champion who's made a bunch of instructional video's.

I did not read the whole thread. Only checked to see if someone else already recommended Fabien's videos. They changed my riding style and made me a lot faster...

He did an entire video. I can't remember the name of it tho. I'm sure someone on here will be able to. Very good instructional stuff.

Plus he's an allround nice guy. Helped my mate fix his chainguide in Chatel while he was doing a riding clinic.

I have the DVD that was released with an MTB UK mag a few years ago. Has all the sections and a few extra's. And its all on 26". A real collectors item just like my bike.

Cornering is definitely a bit faster with this new technique, practicing it and trying to go faster cost my some of my palm and gloves

I also tried Fabien's cornering technique this weekend. Was a bit faster than before on a specific Strava section without riding harder but I need more practice as most of the time I either over steered or under steered as the feeling in corner was different.

Yesterday I kept under steering, half the time my wheels almost slipped out because I went way to low in the corner, does the new technique feel more stable to you when cornering? I find I can go as fast now as I want

A good trick is to practice the technique in every corner  - even easy ones at slowish speeds - then it becomes second nature.

Yes, bike felt more stable. The faster bit I'm still getting to as my fall last year is still stuck in my mind.

1. Don't take riding advice from people on an internet forum

2. Go on to youtube and look up Fabien Barel flat corners. He's a 2x DH world champion who's made a bunch of instructional video's.

I followed your advice at point #1 which unfortunately meant I couldn't read #2

Well you're already doing well. Taking riding advice from a bunch of keyboard jockeys (yes I am aware of the irony) is a bad idea.

OK I confess I actually read #2 as well. I got a free Fabian Barrel dvd with a UK bike mag once and totally agree.

Another good resource is Lee McCormack's book Mastering Mountainbike skills.
