And was it windy !!!

So kader01 did you for a ride ??

Seems like he made the rooky mistake of flying 100Km+ out with the wind as he felt like Lance himself and is still on his way back against the wind.

We rode chappies yesterday after seeing the wind report for sunday. 50km + is very dangerous for chappies ride. Rather safe than sorry. I'll do a main road ride in that wind but the peninsula marathon closed the roads today.

I applaud your decision.

The wind on Chappies was brutal in areas.

We rode to chappies on Tuesday and the wind was gusting, there was an international triathlete lady with us running 80/60 deep sections on, she managed. Just.

Very impressed!

Literally got blown sideways going up Chappies today, I was riding 50mm carbon deep dish wheels, My buddy too with the same profile wheel as mine... He got blown 1st about 20m ahead of me, but managed to hold on, then I got blown into the opposite(oncoming lane) with a car coming down who, for me, was fortunately going quite slowly and saw the wind take me right across the rd!!! Needless to say I went down Chappies into Noordhoek at about 15km/h max as I was being blown all over the show!!!

Todays wind was BRUTAL!!!

I always say....if there is strong winds I will still go, gusts on the other hand....eish.

Or a MTB it is fine, you can go a bit on the edge/much closer to the side, road bike is a no no for me.

Been wanting to get deep sections for quite some time now but this is the exact reason why I havent. I will get blown way into the sea ????

Was more wind than we are used to in the cradle on Saturday morning, so i slipped in behind some triathlete's on the caves return bit - we had a good sidewind blowing. the one guy had approx 100mm deep wheels on the back of a tri bike and he was literally using about 2 meters left and right to go straight down the road. It was vicious.

I eventually just sat and watched. Deep section and aggressively aero wheels are only going to help you in very limited use cases....

There's windy conditions

And then windy conditions with crazy gusts (the hand of God, I call it sometimes)

If the gusts levels are 45 or so plus, I tend to stay indoors

Or hit the trails, if possible, where cars are not close

Todays gusts were INSANE!!! Yet another "I hope my Mrs knows where my life policy documents are" ride going down Chappies and then trying to get into Fish Hoek along Kommetjie Rd... Woooow that was tough, was going about 20km/h downhill AND pedalling!!! Deep section wheeels just look nice, Felt terrible once again today though!!!

Ai tog.

Guess i am going to leave the deep sections and aero bike at home for CTCT and do it again on my old trusty Supersix with "normal" low profile Mavic hoops?

Better option yes

And with sitting in the wheels most of the day, aero hoops are not that necessary

Unless you're planning your break up Chappies ????????????????

I hit chappies this morning from the Hout Bay side, went half way up and then decided to turn around and got blown off on the way back down again without deep section wheels. Those gusts were hectic coming from the side.
